Pain and Pretending/With Study Guide

Was surprised how immediately the book was relevant to my own life and the circumstances I had gone through as a child, then as a teen, in college, and then in my adult life. So many people are pretending and hurting others because they do not understand why they are doing what they do. This helps to give insight to those who are unable to say they are sorry, because they have no idea what they are doing or why.

YOU HAVE TO BUY THIS IF YOU HAD SOMETHING BIG HAPPEN IN YOUR PAST!!!! I almost guarantee if you experienced something like that you will want to stop reading because it hits close to home. We use this book ministering to people who have pain in their past, and it is great. It opens up some old wounds so they can heal.

Makes some great points, but lost me at the "homosexuality is a symptom of abuse". I was so grossed out by that part that I quit reading. I believe people can be born gay, and that is a normal part of variance within species. Using anecdotal evidence to dismiss a very common sexual preference is kind of crappy. There are some great takeaways, but for me, that part was super off-putting.

The book had some highlighting and writing in it but not a lot. I expected some as it is used. But the condition otherwise was perfect.

This is a great book for Christian healing. These days in psychology all they do is treat symptoms and suggest generic coping strategies. It's so important to look back into the past and heal from past pains. No more pretending. Jesus and I together, praying through this book, and a lot of healing took place. Thank you!

I am the daughter of a Victim of Abuse.....this book was invaluable to me to not only understand and be more compassionate towards my mother's depression, but the questions in the book helped her bring out the intense pain that imprisoned her. I followed the book's instructions and asked my mother the questions listed in the book, and it opened what was plaguing her for 40 years.....and then when I shared what I learned from this book , my mother began to hear and receive love. It took a while but combined with lots of prayer, my mother was eventually set free from the darkness of depression and enjoyed the latter part of her life.
