Great to know this bulb product has improved over the old design.
It seems that the company finally decided to improve on the bulb in this arena. I know the Edison bulb design of this unit makes it a bit short lived, but something that is a tradeoff for an actual filament bulb and warmer which is getting harder and harder to find in this age of LED bulbs. This unit, though the same wattage rating, seems to improve by having a slight filter coating on the bulb which honestly vastly improves it over the bulbs of the past. The original bulbs were too bright (couldnt look directly at the light source filament without a feeling it was harsh and not pleasant to look at). This new design lessens the harshness considerably and makes it a lot more warm in color and pleasant to view, even directly. Being that the wattage didnt change and the brightness is decreased, one can only assume the power has to go somewhere and this seems to translate in a considerably warmer wax melting than before. Older bulb design I measured 126 degrees F once up to temperature and lots of un-melted wax at the top level of the nearly full tray. This design I measured 143 degree F and nearly no un-melted portions of wax with a nearly full tray (same exact wax mixture).Overall, better wax melting and faster scent while being a better light source for aesthetics. If you enjoy the bright light source for night light, etc, just know this will take it down quite a bit. Longevity wise, it claims similar life expectancy, but I have only used for a few weeks total now.
