Golden SoFlat Matte Acrylic Paint, Pop Set (0974-0)

I love this brand of paint. I have the heavy body and the open slow drying paint. I thought I would try SoFlat because it's flat, very flat and I have uses for paint that isn't shiny or sem-shiny. As you can see in the image, the colors are bright. I mixed SoFlat with the Heavy body to get the bright results of my Yorky's mix of colors. I will purchase more along with the other Golden paints. These are advertised as professional level, so I'm glad my little test painting proved this to be true. They are smooth and creamy and easy to work with. And acrylic paint is cleaner than oil. It's easy to layer them and use with oil if desired.

So much better than acrylic paints you grab at the store. It covers better, flows well, great colors.

I have had an Ultramarine 40k army for almost 20 years. I have painted hundreds of Ultramarines using Citadel, Vallejo, Ak Interactive Gen 3, Scale 75 and Artist Pro Acryl from Monument. Anyone with any experience knows Ultramarine is a hard color to make super opaque. This is the most opaque Ultramarine I have found and it goes on smooth in airbrush or via a normal synthetic or sable brush. Like all Ultramarine it is hard to judge when mixing with other paints so start with 10 to 1 favoring Soflat Ultramarine and go from there. I mix with a Turquoise for my mid hightlight and snow grey for my highest highlight and they overpower it like all Ultramarine but it mixes better than any other brand I have tried including heavy body acrylics. Try it out if you are a Ultramarine player or if you are a normal painter you know what all those pigment and opacity ratings are and don't need my advice.

I do a lot of Miniatures and so when I want a dark-haired brunette, this paint is just amazing for that! Coverage is wonderful and very solid.

This is very nice, highly pigmented, flat paint. I gave it 4 stars because you have to shake it pretty well before using it and In think it's expensive.

I used this on the unglazed bottoms of porcelain chess pieces that I made, applied after firing of course - can't glaze bottoms or they stick to the kiln and porcelain gets dirty and ugly fast. I was surprised at how smoothly and evenly it covered and how washable and durable it is. I used a red too, and wanted matte because the rest of the pieces had a matte glaze. It gave me a really nice very slight soft sheen matte surface.

There's a reason we pay more for certain brands - the SoFlat Acrylics are the most opaque paints I've used to date. Though they aren't as fluid out of the jar as competing liquid acrylics, the opacity makes up for it. If you want to get a really smooth finish you will need to add a touch of medium, and don't forget to let the paint layers dry in between applications - less is more. Not recommended for glazing techniques, if you're looking to build up transparent layers, this isn't the product you want.

Needed a non light reflective background for my Raven painting. I was not pleased with glare in the background from my usual Golden Fluid black acrylic paint, so I decide to try So flat. It covered nicely in two light coats and gave me the perfect flat non reflective coverage I was seeking. I am very pleased with this product.
