It is VERY sturdy but Beautiful!
This safety bar has no similarity to a “medical/hospital/nursing home” feel normally achieved by typical safety bars. It could be used for and pass for a decorative towel bar but it is strong enough to support heavy weight when properly installed. Extremely wellcinstructed, and durable.

Doesn't Look Like a Grab Bar but Very Sturdy
I needed a grab bar in my spare bathroom for a relative, but I did not want something that looked like an industrial, handicap bar you see in public bathrooms. This grab bar is very nice and because of the decorative end caps and screw cover plates. I hang a towel on it and no one even knows it is a grab bar. The install was easy with the included directions. The plates that hold the bar to the wall have several slots for screws so that you can get more than one into the stud on each end. The studs in my wall are 24 inches on center so both ends are anchored into a stud. I grabbed the bar and pulled back and forth after I finished putting it in and shook the whole house. It is extremely sturdy. My relative used it often for its designed purpose and in the mean time, it makes a great towel rack.

Attractive and extremely secure
Am using this as a towel bar and it's very attractive and works perfectly. As others have mentioned, the clearance may be a bit tight if using for thick bath towels, but I'm using it for 2 hand towels and absolutely no problem with those. It also perfectly matches the Moen grab bar toilet tissue holder.A couple of installation tips:- If not securing to studs, the Securemount anchors do not come with this item and you will have to purchase them separately. They are easy to install, extremely secure and I recommend them highly if studs are not conveniently located. (Moen SMA1005CH securemount). They are sold individually and do not come in pairs so theoretically, you could mount one end of the bar on a stud, and use the Securemount anchor only on the other end. In actuality however, because the bar brackets are mounted on top of the Securemount anchors, if you only used the Securemount on one end, it would be visually noticeable.- Measure thrice because there is no room for error. Unlike normal towel bars, the bar and the brackets of this one, are a fixed distance and there is no wiggle room for error of bracket spacing.- For ease of working, once everything is measured, the brackets can be removed from the bar by loosening the set screws. This just makes it so much easier to maneuver the screws and screwdriver without having to try to angle everything around the bar and plate covers.

Great quality -use as towel rack/bar for a dual purpose
Third time purchasing these. Have in two different colors, three sizes. Very well made. We use the grab bars as towel racks for dual purpose. These look like nice towel racks not utility grade grab bars.

Good balance of function and style.
I use this horizontally about 9 inches above the tub top centered on the long back wall. Helpful for getting up and down in the tub, holding onto when dunking your head, drying a bath mat/wash cloth, and a lean to seat while showering in my tub/bath. It looks like a hefty towel bar and functions like a grab bar all in one. The brushed nickel doesn't have the slight brown tones of my other satin nickel fixtures, but still looks great. Close enough.Easy to install, especially on a new build or renovation. If you want it horizontal it's 24 inches on center, which doesn't match most stud spacing. Get the backer boards installed before tiling or green boarding. If installed on an angle, it's easier to find studs, but angles ruin the towel bar or seat benefits. You can buy Moen special drywall togles if you don't attach it to a stud, but I think they lose some of their poundage safety load.

Very well made and nice looking as well. Great grab bar!
As we have gotten a little older, we were concerned about slipping in our shower. We did not want the "plain institutional' looking bars like one sees in hotels and when I saw this Moen I thought it was worth a try. I installed it today taking about 30 minutes, careful minutes because of our tile and used my own screws and inserts. The included screws are for stud installs only. And I was not sure what was behind my tile.In any case, the Moen secure mount method is well thought out and made things a little easier given so many areas to be able to place the screws. Once the backplates are in place you then attached the bar with set screws which I had my skepticism hat on about but once done, I am very pleased. I gave it a good pull and no movement (whew). Meanwhile, my wife loves the way it looks and the cushioned grips on the back side of the bar are an added plus. Glad I got this and will purchase another one for the other bathroom. Well done Moen!

Good looking and fully functional. Every bath tub needs one
Every shower stall and bath tub needs a grab bar, and this one is perfect. Clean, simple lines, and the rubber inserts on the side facing the wall are not visible but improve your grip. This can be a life-saving device. The 16-inch wide model matches the standard distance between studs in a wall, so if you line it up right, horizontally, you'll anchor it into adjacent studs. In our case, I mounted the 16 inch model just under the recessed shelf in the wall for soap, shampoo, etc., which is between two studs, making the job of centering the grab bar and locating the studs a cinch. Drilling through solid porcelain tile proved to be more difficult than I anticipated, but with the correct diamond-edged hollow drill bit, a spray bottle of water to keep the bit cool, and a lot of patience, I got the job done. (Note that most drill bits rated for ceramic tile will not handle porcelain.) Anyway, my wife and I are both very pleased with this grab bar. We also bought the 24" version which we installed above our bath tub, but we don't use that nearly as often as our shower.
