**Q: These look really light, do you think they would take a stain to darken them up a bit?**
A: Um, no. They are natural sandstone, which is made of the mineral quartz. Because they are natural stone there is color variation: you either like that, or you don't. To colorize quartz, we apply X-rays or heat treatment (550°F). For quartz to be dyed (or "stained"), you would need to heat/quench it to crack the grains so that the dye would be accepted into the grains. Alternatively, yes: the coasters could "soak up" a stain, into the spaces between the sand grains; but this space is what allows water to be collected when used as a coaster. All of these defeat the purpose of using them as coasters, not to mention that the cork bottom would be destroyed.

**Q: Do costers have padded bottom?  Concerned about scratching mirrored table.**
A: Yes they have cork bottoms. These are the best coasters I have ever used. I have a glass and oak coffee table, never a scratch or any liquid ever on anything we use these on. Definitively 100% recommend.

**Q: What is on the back?**
A: I  don't know.  It seems cork like.  It does not scratch  other surfaces and does not sweat.  Great coaster

**Q: How thick is each coaster?**
A: 3/8"  is the coaster. But there is also cork at the bottom that is 1/16", so 7/16" total
