Easy to use and versatile
I love this timer and have three of them! I use them to time different projects, not just in the kitchen. It has a clock function which I keep on display when not timing something. It counts both and up and down up to 100 hours, which is not always the case for other timers. I even use it as a back-up alarm clock by simply setting a timer to count down the number of hours I want to sleep. The little stand will eventually wear out, but no matter. The clock-timer is the important thing. I have used only West Bend timers for 20 years.

Reliable timer
Why did you pick this product vs others?:Great little timer - this timer replaced my 30 year old West Bend timer. Great reliable brand! One criticism- the timer could be louder.

Not what I needed
I have several stretches I need to do daily. This timer isn’t made for what I need. Set timer for 20 seconds, it beeps, hit stop, it resets and hit start again. This one oddly begins to count UP once you hit stop start again. Or there’s an extra start required. Or reset it each time. . PITA. I should have returned it. Works great if using for a one timed event. It’s loud and easy to hear. Not good for my specific needs.

A Timer That Provides All I Need
After reading the previous reviews I had to turn my timer around to check its Cat. No. and make sure I had the same unit. I bought this timer last summer (8 months ago) and I've had no problems with it. The magnet doesn't release from the refrigerator as I punch in the numbers. It does shift a bit. Maybe other users are being heavy handed? I've used it to remind me of events later in the day, setting it as far ahead as 7 hours and however many minutes I need. So it should work fine to time a roast. It's a simple unit and I've gotten a lot of use out of it without it breaking. Hopefully it will last for years. I'm buying another one today for my husband to use in his office. That's the best recommendation I can give it.

As good as old version
First, good timer. Had a previous version for 30+ years and looked for one like it. 70s beige version was smaller and more elegant. Clip/magnet nestled in the case. Button battery was likewise inside. This one has clunky battery and clip protruding from the back. However, magnet is larger and battery a more convenient AA. This one has larger display. As to timing, some reviewers must not actually have had this model. #40055 has an hour button and 99-hour-plus capability. (Resetting? Directions are clear.) It counts up as well as down. I used my old one as a stop watch. E.g., 22 minutes or more of commercials and promos in 60 minutes of TV or radio.New version has these advantages too: Thicker than old one, stands on the counter better; clip is more robust; when the clip is out it's more stable at a tilt than the smaller, older, elegant version; and, more heft is easier for older and younger hands.Have two complaints.Worst is that if timer is not stopped before 1 minute signal is over, beeps continue (more slowly) but cannot be stopped or cleared except by removing battery. (Mr Ickowski's review.) This then resets clock to midnight and resets timer so memory/repeat cannot be used. This is an important fault. I use the reset feature often. No clock is no sweat. Must say that once so far (two months) I failed to stop timer for several hours and it wasn't beeping when I finally woke up. Note also that while beeping goes on, so does the count-up to tell how long I've overcooked the eggs. (Old version had tiny "time up" note in display.)Second, signal varies in volume, and is not very loud anyway. 1970s version was louder enough to notice difference. Hard to hear in another room. (Found same problem with Lux & off-brand mechanical ringing timers.)I give the new timer 4 stars. In twenty years, may upgrade to 5.A side note. A few days after receiving the timer, Amazon sent me a "You might be interested in buying" email for it. Price was cheaper! It still is.

Was awesome, but didn't last
After trying several other timers that had ridiculously annoying alarms (rapid beeps that increase in volume, etc), I was so happy to find this timer that just has simple beeps like a timer should. It worked great for a while, but now it has a short or something where it randomly switches to clock (which I don't even use) in the middle of me setting a timer. When it does this, the only way to get back to timer mode is to tape Clear, which then means I have to start over with setting the timer. Same thing happens when I am using the same time repeatedly to do batches of food in the fryer or oven - it used to keep the time I'd set in memory & I could start the same time over & over. But now it randomly switches to clock & again I have to Clear everything. So disappointing that I have to go shopping for a new timer from some other brand. I really would have recommended this one before the glitching started.

So happy to find this!
We've always relied on West Bend for digital timers because they're so accurate, durable and easy to use. But we lost our last one in a household move and were unable to find another one. That is until this little gem popped up on Amazon. So good to have our reliable West Bend timer back! So easy to use and so accurate - and they last a very long time. Do yourself a favor: toss out those other digital timers in your home and get this one, or one for each room where you need to time actions or just need a handy little clock to attach to any metal surface. It's the little things in life that make living easy and stress-free that truly matter. Thanks, West Bend and Amazon!
