Scala Men's Panama Gambler Hat

I'm not really a hat person but purchased this hat to wear once at a company lunch party where the theme was hats. I actually have wanted a Panama since the 1990s when this kind of hat caught my eye on television. One of the band members who went by the name "La Bamba" on Conan O'Brien's Late Night show on NBC used to wear one all of the time and it was very unusual in that no one else at that time or since was wearing these hats. Not one shop in town seemed to have quality Panama hats so I placed an order online and was pleasantly surprised when this hat arrived. It is very well made and will last a lifetime with proper care. I suggest buying a hat box for it to keep the dust off since it is not collapsable for storage. Several people at the party made positive comments about the hat and one even mentioned it was very "Humphrey Bogart like". I'm happy with the purchase and look for occasions to wear the hat again and again.

This is my husbands second hat of this exact same kind. Because he is bald on top he ALWAYS wears a hat outside. This hat was his go-to summer hat for 4 years, before it finally began to come apart. It developed holes on the crown, in the place where he always holds it when he takes it off and puts it on. For the price, 4 years of 6 months each year of constant wearing is a great deal. I ordered him a second hat. The person at amazon doing the shipping that day must have been hung over because the hat came in a box that was not much more than 3 inches high. That hat went back and Amazon quickly sent out another hat, this one in a box that did not crush it.He gets lots of compliments on this hat, which fits well and is sharp looking.

Hat is everything I was looking for. I'm a Panama (read made in Ecuador) hat guy. This hat looks great, fits perfect and meets all my expectations.

Excellent product and good fit. But it was crushed when it arrived. That was totally unnecessary as the box was undamaged. It was as though someone was having a bad day and punched it for the heck of it.

This immediately became my go-to warm weather hat. The style, the materials, and the workmanship are all tip-top. It draws a compliment every time I wear it.

It is what I expected. The hat is a bit stiff but can be worked so that it fits well. I first ordered an XL, which is what my old Panama hat is, but Scala's Panama was too large in XL, so I returned it with very little hassle and ordered a large that fits. I'm very satisfied.

Fits well, and looks great. Nicely woven with, thin strips and a tight weave; no noticeable imperfections in the fabric. I have some other Scala hats (felt) and I'm very pleased with them all. I've always been pleasantly surprised with the fit and quality of Scala's relatively economical hats. From what I've seen, Scala produces hats that are an excellent value. Unfortunately, I bought this Panama Gambler in December, so I'll have to wait several month before I wear it more than around the house. (I know - Who wears a hat in the house, but this is so nice and comfortable, that I do.)
