It actually does work!
I actually think this stuff works! I’m a keen gardener based in the south of England and this summer have been eaten alive by mosquitoes and midges, even after spraying 50% deet. I read that this can work even when deet doesn’t and so decided to give it a go. It is a lovely moisturising cream that does not feel like it has any chemicals or nasties in it. Kind of like putting suncream on! I have now used it for the last couple of weeks especially at that 6-7pm danger time in the garden. Touch wood, but currently I have to say that I have no bites. This is in contrast to losing sleep every night through the itch/scratch/itch cycle previously from all the horrendous bites I had. I really do hope this product continues to work in the way it has so far, fingers crossed! I do recommend it.

It works!!!
As a total mossie magnet I bought this hoping it might stop me getting as many bites as I usually get! First day I got bitten 4 times at 4pm as hadn’t realise they came out to eat so early! But after that I applied this and no more bites! Not one. My daughter has also had no bites and usually gets bitten a lot also. Product has a slight smell but nothing like deet !! It’s a lotion that goes on nicely and no stickiness afterwards. Def will be buying every holiday from now on

Stopped midges
Stopped Scottish midges from landing and biting the exposed skin. Other insects did bite, so not 100% Nice non smelly or sticky lotion. Two adults usage, every day for a week and still have some left over.

Great alternative to DEET
I have a history of getting really severe allergic reactions from bites of all kinds. So an upcoming trip to Tanzania followed by a trip to Miami meant that I needed to find something that would minimise the risk of me getting bitten. I have tried other products that contain DEET, But always felt that this is a very harsh ingredient and something that I wasn’t super comfortable rubbing on my skin for extended periods of time. My mother-in-law suggested this is an alternative as she has issues getting bitten and having really severe reactions. So I bought a few bottles and hoped for the best. Well, I will say is that I didn’t have any bites while I was away and I use this daily in place of my usual moisturiser. I also used suncream on top, And did not use any perfume. Most days in addition to this, I used antibacterial wipes on my skin. I’ve continued to use this since coming back home (I live in the UK) Mainly on days where I know I will be outside or where my skin might be exposed to bugs. Fortunately, I have not had any bites this summer. This will continue to be a staple in my medicine cabinet and in my handbag to be on the safe side. Would recommend! They also arrived quickly, which help when I was packing very last minute before my trip. Thank you.

Fantastic
Bought this as sick of mosquito bites whilst on holiday , usually use a strong repellent in spray form , last year the bites spoilt my holiday so tried this lotion/cream this time Wow is all I can say , 2 smallish bottles but it went on the skin lovely (bit like a body lotion) No smell like the sprays No bites in a full week Amazing ! Highly recommend

Very effective in warding off insects, including sand flies, more effectively than DEET

This stuff is awesome. We purchased some waterfront land on the ocean in Va. and have an off-grid camp set up while we slowly build and upgrade the property into our eventual retirement home/farm. The tick, mosquito, fly and gnat populations in this area are insane. I despise ticks especially since one tried to kill me by infecting me with tick fever when I was 5 years old and another gave my son Lymes Disease and put him in intensive care when he was also 5. Both of us were sent to John's Hopkins as 5 year olds because of ticks. I also hate bugspray. It's expensive, the cans of spray don't last long enough and if you leave them sit they'll eventually become empty on their own so stocking up doesn't help much. I started looking for another solution and in 2021 I bought 1 quart of this Picaridin cream. I'm still using the same quart in 2024. Full disclosure, I was the only one in my family that had been using it because everyone else is lazy. You can't just spray yourself real quick and be done. You need to put it on like sunscreen but it doesn't take that much. I'm 6'-2" and 240lbs. I use maybe 2 1/2 squirts of the pump to cover my feet, legs, arms, neck and head. I even rub a little through my hair. I spray my shirt with some form of DEET before I put it on. That's it. It lasts pretty much all day, except the mosquitoes will get me through my shirt later in the day because the DEET will wear off. My family will go through several cans of bugspray to my 2 squirts of Picaridin. The last trip out they finally realized that bugspray actually kinda sucks. So I'm on here buying another quart because I don't want to run out. I bought some cheap rubber gloves from Harbor Freight that I've started wearing when I put on the cream so I'm not eating it off my fingers later in the day. It doesn't wash off really easy which is a good thing, especially if you are a sweater or get in the water. Getting in the water will deminish it's effectiveness but I think it sticks on to you better than spray without a doubt. This stuff also dries quickly, the feeling of it on your skin is much more comfortable than bugspray and it doesn't smell nearly as bad. Mosquitoes absolutely hate it. I've watched them turn complete 180's as soon as they make contact with me. Gnats will land on you but they will not bite. They can still be pretty annoying if you are fishing at night because they'll swarm and tickle you but they do the same with all the other repellants. It repels chiggers and ticks great but if you are spending time in the places I do, you still need to check your underwear band and the other nooks and crannies down in that area where you didn't apply anything. The value this stuff brings is undeniable. $50 for a quart that could last you years as opposed to an $8 can of OFF that will last 1 person a couple days at best and that is assuming you use it up before it dries up on its own, unused. That's it. It is good stuff. In my opinion, and I think I would know, it is more effective, last longer, feels cleaner and is way more affordable then the other altermatives. If you get into the outdoors a lot, buy a quart. You won't regret it.

If you're looking for a reliable insect repellent that doesn't compromise on comfort, the Sawyer Products SP564 Premium Insect Repellent Lotion with 20% Picaridin is a standout choice. Exceptional Protection Against Biting Insects This lotion contains 20% Picaridin, which has proven to be as effective as DEET in repelling a wide range of pests. In my personal experience, it provided up to 14 hours of protection against mosquitoes and ticks, and up to 8 hours against flies, gnats, and chiggers. Whether you're hiking in the woods or enjoying a backyard barbecue, this lotion keeps biting insects at bay. Non-Greasy and Odorless Formula One of the biggest advantages is its non-greasy texture. The lotion absorbs quickly into the skin without leaving a sticky residue, making it comfortable to wear all day. It's also virtually odorless, so you won't be left with that strong chemical smell common with other repellents. Skin-Friendly and Suitable for the Whole Family The formula is gentle on the skin, which is great for those with sensitivities. I've used it on both adults and children without any irritation. Plus, it's safe to apply on clothing and gear without causing damage or stains. Convenient Size and Easy Application The 4-ounce tube is perfect for travel and fits easily into backpacks or pockets. The lotion format allows for precise application, ensuring you cover all exposed areas thoroughly. This makes it more efficient than aerosol sprays that can miss spots or get carried away by the wind. Why Choose Picaridin Over DEET? Picaridin is a newer repellent that offers similar efficacy to DEET but with several benefits: No Damage to Gear: Unlike DEET, Picaridin doesn't harm plastics or synthetic materials. Pleasant to Use: It's less oily and has no strong odor. Safe and Effective: Provides long-lasting protection without compromising safety. Pros: Long-lasting insect protection Non-greasy, fast-absorbing lotion Odorless and gentle on skin Safe for use on clothing and gear Compact and travel-friendly size Cons: Requires reapplication after swimming or heavy sweating Final Verdict The Sawyer Products SP564 Premium Insect Repellent Lotion is a must-have for outdoor enthusiasts and anyone looking to protect themselves from biting insects comfortably and effectively. Its superior formulation and ease of use make it a top choice among insect repellents on the market. Highly recommended for peace of mind during outdoor activities.
