Turbinia: The Story of Charles Parsons and his North Sea Greyhound

Very good book, well worth getting this book, especially if your from the northeast, and are familiar with the company c a parsons.

Nice book, well written regarding history of vessel and Parson himself, however it lacks any detailed technical information. If only there was a dedicated chapter as regards construction and machinery details, along with a set of bigger drawings, then it would be excellent.

Interesting

The story of Turbinia is told in a fast paced and absorbing narrative. The salient facts of the boat and the biography of Parsons are well presented. There are a few instances where the conversion to eReader format didn't quite work but this does not detract from the story..

Not too in-depth but satisfies the curiosity of what this first little (big) ski boat was all about. The conversion to an eBook could use some going-over as there are a few muddled paragraphs and words that spellcheck messed up. But not enough to be a problem. Recommended.

I love this book! Rare photos and stories about this important vessel, the first to be powered by steam turbine. I am surprised more Steampunk enthusiasts haven’t discovered the Turbinia-- the fastest vessel of the 19th Century. Her appearance at the 1897 Spithead Review is the ultimate Steampunk fantasy. If you want to know more about her, this is the book!

A dry factual history read. Good to its purpose and not presenting itself to be more than an expanded monograph.
