This was a Christmas present for someone crafty and artistic, and the journal was a hit. It’s beautiful in person and is real leather. I was extremely happy with this purchase for the price and the quality.

Absolutely beautiful I’ve already bought another and haven’t even started anything in them yet. I love the weathered look and feel of these journals, I’m almost afraid of messing them up with my silly art & journaling. If you’re considering one you won’t be disappointed.

I was a little disappointed with this when I received it. I like the distressed high quality leather cover, but the key strap needs to be longer. I have to really pull on it for just the tip of the key to reach the holder. The pages are definitely antique looking, but I wish they weren't so dark. I do hope my daughter will like it if she can close the strap.

I was surprised by exactly how much this journal was perfect for my needs given the inexpensive price. It's exactly as described, which is saying something when it comes to these kinds of items. The leather is supple and suitably distressed, and the paper is rough and thick, as hoped. The leather strip binding is tight and well done. Basically, it's everything I'd hope for, and feels believably like an actual antique book. About the only part that feels in any way out of place is the metal key "bookmark" attached to the strap. It looks a bit too fancy and is made of too light weight of a material to feel genuine or appropriate for the period of the rest of the journal, but this is a matter of my personal preference both for style and use. As the key is not really a part of the book itself, and could be pretty readily removed by cutting it off without in any way affecting the utility of the item, I'm fine with it. In summary: well made, as described, and surprisingly good for the price.
