As a skating parent, I consider these little gel pads nothing short of a miracle. Before we had them, every practice ended with sore ankles, blisters, and dramatic “I can’t skate another step!” performances. Now? Smooth glides, happy ankles, and fewer complaints (well, at least about skates). Likes: • They slide on easily and actually stay put during jumps and spins. • Cushioning is just right—enough protection without feeling bulky inside the skate. • Washable and reusable, so they’re not a one-and-done fix. What could be better: • They don’t magically keep skates tied tight after a double loop. (Still working on that one!) • My skater likes them so much, now I have to buy backup pairs because they keep disappearing into the abyss of the skate bag. Who this is best for: Figure skaters, hockey players, or anyone who’s tired of their ankles screaming after lacing up. Verdict: A must-have piece of gear—like seatbelts for your ankles.

Love these! Long time hockey player. Wish I had these for the last 20 years. I was getting bad boot-bite on my ankles when playing multiple session a day. These sleeves have protected my skin well enough to finally heal and prevent further abrasion. I don’t even notice they are in my boot. Fit is great. Thickness is perfect. Great value and highly effective.

I think this is going to be a love hate relationship. They definitely cushion my “ankles” from my leather hiking boots but they are sweaty when I take them off.

Tried it during hockey and they work fantastic. It was effective in helping alleviate the tenderness and pain with lacebite.

I am wearing a leg brace after fracturing my knee, but the darned brace keeps slipping. It is made of very hard plastic and has no padding, so when it slips it pushes against my ankle and all the bones in the top of my foot. Very painful. I was googling, looking for some way of padding the brace, other than sticking a sock under it, when I found these gel-filled ankle sleeves. I've never even had ice skates on my feet, so didn't know there was a need for these little miracles, but I am so grateful! I hope the brace can finally be adjusted so it doesn't slip, but in the meantime, my foot is no longer being tortured. I can only imagine these work well for their intended purpose, of protecting ankles from stiff skates or boots. I think the ortho people should hand them out with leg braces. The ankle gel sleeves offer some comfort, which has helped alleviate ankle pain during ice skating, and they also stay securely in place. However, the product has an unpleasant lingering odor and has begun to show signs of wear after about five uses. Additionally, the gel has become noticeably stickier, making it somewhat challenging to put on without it adhering to itself.

These are made for ice skates, but I used them in boots that have rear zipper that tend to slouch over time and the zipper ends up cutting into flesh. They’re also great for booties that have tight ankles so they don’t rub off layers of skin and cause blisters.

I have been struggling to get my expensive senior hockey skates adjusted to my feet. Even after three heat sessions to mould the inner ankle portion of the skates, they continued to rub the lower ankle bone. The Ankle Gel Protection Sleeves helped solve the problem. They fit easily, take up very little room in the skate and DEFINITELY protect the ankle bones. I added one gel disc to my right lower ankle and the entire problem was solved. The sleeve touches the top of the added gel disc and helps hold it in place. I am a very happy camper now, comfortable on my skates and even scoring now and then.
