This filter is the worst! It’s noisy and difficult to clean. For the first year I had a rubber band holding it together. Then I needed a wadded up paper towel between the wall and filter to quell the racket it made. Then even the paper towel didn’t work. It hummed and rattled so loud I could hear it downstairs with the door closed! Today after not even two years since purchasing it I pitched it and got another brand. I’m 72 years old and have had aquariums since I was 5. Never had problems with any filter and they all lasted several years. No need for two filter pads for a ten gallon aquarium. If you do water changes once a month or so and don’t over feed you won’t need two filter pads. Just another way to rip you off. If you decide to purchase this filter only use one filter.

I bought this in September 2022. This filter cut down the noise level immediately! And filtering is amazing! Works fast and is effective. I do have to change the filter every 2 weeks and clean my tank once a month but that's less frequent than before.Fast forward to 4/2023. I'm doing my usual monthly cleaning and the filter stopped working. I changed the filter, power source, water level is met but the motor did not turn on. I really like this filter. It did everything as expected. It is a little bulky for my tank. Searching for a new silent filter system.

I've used this for years. I buy a replacement every 3-4 years of use.
