Polk Reserve series are a fantastic value.
These tower speakers have a great and full sound. Top is clear and a bottom with a hefty subwoofer-like punch. The speakers sit on spikes for Carpet or rubber for hard flooring. A nice touch. They are rated at 4 ohms and for my Marantz Cinema 40 at 5.6.2 Dolby Atmos (I use an Ayima AO7 to run the extra pair of Atmos speakers for 9 channels) they just crush every scene in my 4K collection. The uploaded video is for music listeners. That is with my Prima Luna Evo 400 tube amp. The sounds of Ray Brown laying down a line for Joe and Oscar makes me smile as a former bassist. You can’t hear how deep these speakers really go. My oak wood flooring rumbles with the sonics. Also Danny at GR-Research gave them a solid and no need for any changes to the speakers sound signature and I respect his opinions. These are basically the same as the Dolby Atmos version with a basic, but solid cabinet. They are quite heavy with the port on the bottom. I did remove the bi-wiring and replaced the connectors with Viborg pure copper lugs. This will improve clarity and detail if you have a system that can produce it. For movies and viewing or a normal audio system I would not bother. Just make sure every thing is tight. I run SKW copper cables to the Marantz and ELF silvers with Tuneful rhodium plated ccsilver z-cons for the music side. The Galion AS75 has plenty of power to drive them at 75 watts. I was getting 105-106 decibel peaks no issues and crystal clear. My wooden house shakes when that bass is rocking. I would say these punch up to the $3k-$5k range in sound quality. The R400 center channel I have is also big and has the wood vinyl; which looks very nice. White is probably long gone. I may upgrade the parts on these at some point in the future. Maybe not. They sound real good stock.

Polk does it again...
Before I review this don't forget to check my video review on transformational gaming on YouTube. I also have not taken measurements of these speakers either. That being said, I must say these sound great. This is an audiophile speaker system. I love the way the top end rolls off. These speakers have a laid back sound with a good midrange. Will these shake your house? Well that depends... Do you hard wood floors? Because otherwise than that, you're going to need some subwoofers. I am pushing these with the psaudio M700s. And honestly I wouldn't go too much under 700 watts which is what the M700s are rated. The r700s does have sensitivity but honestly you must get a receiver or amplifier that can dip to 4 ohms. The power that it delivers is irrelevant, however I would start out at 700 watts. A few things about the speakers, they thump! The midrange's 6 inch sponge speaker cone is the star of the show. The thud that comes from 50hz action is great. The not so 8 inch woofers are awesome but if you are on carpet, again get a subwoofer. These drivers just don't have the surface area to produce low tones without being on a hardwood floor. The ring tweeter gives you the sonics a tweeters are supposed to give. The sound stage is something to behold. You just can't go wrong with these and at least 1 sub. It is true these go down to about 30hz. In summary, I got these for 899 per. But now they are 1099 per. To me they're still worth it. And while it is true these go down to 30hz, they're completely rolling off around that time. Don't forget to visit the channel at transformational gaming on YouTube.

Impressive Value
Tremendous Value For the Price Point, I don't see how one could find better "sound for the dollar" They do like being driven with significant power, since I believe they drop to 3.8ohms. I have them Bi-Amped off a separate power amp, and as a result they get about 300w each. This drives them effortlessly and with no distortion, to as loud as one can stand. I have these incorporated in a 7.2.4 Home Theater setup. All the Speakers being Polk except for the Subs. I cross them over to the Subs at 40hz. Amazing sound for music, which in turn makes them great for movies. I did a lot of research on reviews before purchasing, and I'm quite impressed.

Quality Sound from a budget friendly speaker!
These speakers sound equal to my $5K towers that I restored post purchase of these. They are power hungry but in my opinion do not need the support of a subwoofer. They go low and project the bass very well, even on carpet. Always been a Polk fan since I bought my Model 10’s about 40 yrs ago. These just blew me away!

They're good for the price.
When I bought my first tower speakers over a year ago I wanted to audition these but never got to them as I auditioned the focal aria 936 before and absolutely loved those so I kept them. I bought these a year later during prime day. They were good speakers. They sounded pretty good but I did not like the sound compared to my aria 936s, that's kind of an unfair comparison because the 936s are double the price. Even so I didn't get the same feeling I did when listening to the focals. I likely would have kept them and put them in a second set up away from my main system but they came to me damaged and I didn't want to go through the hassle of exchange for something that wouldn't be my main speakers. With all that said though they really are attractive looking speakers that do sound good and if you're looking for speakers in this price range I think it would be pretty hard to beat. Just based off what I have heard personally with a variety of speakers in a wide price range you'd probably have to double the price (936) to get a speaker that these can't compete with. These were the darlings of every reviewer on YouTube and while they're wayyyy to sensational they arent far off the mark.
