110v 40w Soldering Iron w/T-tip Adapter Head and Rubber Strip for Pixel Ribbon Installation or Repair

I had an LCD panel with a partially loose ribbon cable to the interconnecting PCB and this iron made it possible to reconnect and restore operation of the panel. The rubber strips on the heated plate of the iron transfer sufficient heat to the ribbon cable to reflow the connection to the circuit board. Really works great . just secure the ribbon cable flat and where it needs to be and apply the heat for long enough to make a secure connection. Worked great and easier than I expected.

in addition to the iron, i also purchased the silver-wire version of the display ribbons for the temperature and time displays for my 2000 Mercedes W210 E320 from this seller. cannot recommend this seller enough. the silver-wire displays are much better, although more expensive, than the carbon version. when i finished the repair, and reinstalled the cluster, I could not have been more gratified. the seller even gave a few hints to make the job easier. highly, highly recommend this seller and his products.

Got this for removing defective LCD screen ribbons from circuit boards. It's pretty good for this purpose, but not for soldering. It is pretty hot for a sensitive ribbon cable. I can solder these cables, at 0.5mm pitch with a mini 25W iron. Only real complaint is the head often comes loose and needs to be tightened.I have no idea how this things is really supposed to be used for automotive display repair. Also no idea what the "Rubber Cable" is for. There are no instructions included.

I bought this to replace the ribbon cable on the information display in my car. It worked perfectly and made the repair super easy!

Didn't get hot enough

I doubt that my ribbon cable intall in my mercedes dash cluster would have gone right without this tool. That said, it is about the quality that you would expect for the price; cheaply built but effective.
