Remarkable tool easy to use.

Works every time! There is a little learning curve to it, speed, force exc. Once you find that sweet spot you'll be good to go.

The quality of this product is above and beyond and should last a lifetime. And there were enough O rings sent to change them out 5 times over. This is my first fire piston but not my first experience using char cloth. After dozens of trys with both the cloth that they included (charred) and my own normal blue jean material charred cloth I was unable to get ignition. Not even a single time. However once I charred some cotton makeup wipes (I didn't have any cotton balls) and just some regular toilet paper charred I was able to get ignition almost every time.

Listen... I got this piece and I tried it out. I'm an old old old old hand at fire pistons. I've even used some that are made of only natural materials in Indonesia. No metal. No plastic. No porcelain. No glass. This thing would not work no matter what I did. I even tried the Teflon tape like the other guy said. Nothing doing. Finally, in a last ditch effort, I fuzzed up a paper towel and charred it really well. Still nothing. Out of frustration I put the tinest bit of that char in there and gave it one last try, upside down on a good table. It worked perfectly. Now I can use any char cloth so far and if I only put a tiny little bit in there it works like a charm. On a table. On the ground. On my leg. In my hands. It doesn't matter. Between the Teflon tape and the itsy bitsy bit of char cloth this thing is working like butter. Now I need to buy a box of 5000 of those O-Rings (or else make a form) and this thing will go on for eternity.

Seemed to be well made/designed however despite following all instructions (including troubleshooting) I was unable to get a ember to form. Used some great homemade charcloth. Fire pistons are hard to get success with. I don't know why. Blessings, John 20:29
