Q: Some of the commentators have mentioned that this product has an expiration date. What component in Flavacol would "go bad" after the expiration date?

The government says the item need an expiration or best if used by date . Just because it has an expiration date on it does not actually mean it is no good. As for the flavacol, The flavoring and color could change over a period of time.

Q: What are the ingredients? Also what is the difference between this and product #2045, is it the same flavor

I bought this because it does NOT have yellow dye in it. The ingredients are: salt, artificial butter flavor, riboflavin (color).

Q: how do you use this? Do you add it to the kernels and oil when you pop the corn, or sprinkle it on after?

This is a very fine ground salt and is added to the kettle with the raw corn and oil. I will dissolve in the oil to give the corn a nice yellow color and salty taste. You may also put it in a shaker and sprinkle in on later but it does not stick very well because the popcorn has dried somewhat.

It's the same salt they use on movie theater popcorn in their popcorn machines. So if you like movie theater popcorn, you'll definitely like this product. And, a little goes a lonnnng way. It's extremely high in sodium, so I stopped using it.
