### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Who is this Frabato?"
*by K***I on August 10, 2012*

Frabato was the stage name of the highly-evolved Adept and Bodhisattva Franz Bardon (1909-1958), who wrote three seminal works on hermetic magic.According to this book, ascribed to Bardon as author but actually written by his personal secretary Otti Votavova, Bardon was engaged in an occult war with one of the many black lodges that had sprouted throughout Weimar Germany in the late 1920s and early 1930s.Whether a reader wants to take this as a novel or as an inspired biography or even as an inspired autobiography, there is NO question that such lodges existed in interwar Germany, that several (like the Thule Group) had a direct influence on the National Socialist movement, and that Hitler was a member of a black lodge at some point in time. According to FRABATO THE MAGICIAN, Hitler was a member of the very lodge Bardon was pitted against.Eventually, Frabato was forced to flee Germany and return to his native Czechoslovakia. After that nation was conquered by Nazi Germany, Bardon was put into a Concentration Camp. Although he survived the war, his life was ended while in police custody in his then-Communist home country. Those who doubt the reality of the Nazi/occult connection are referred to the filmed funeral of Reinhardt Heydrich which is replete with Nazi occult symbolism and ritual, and to Peter Levenda's Unholy Alliance: A History of Nazi Involvement with the Occult and Goodrick-Clarke's The Occult Roots of Nazism: Secret Aryan Cults and Their Influence on Nazi Ideology.FRABATO THE MAGICIAN is mesmerizing. I read it in one sitting. Although the writing style is uneven and requires a large suspension of disbelief by readers unfamiliar with the occult, the book has an arresting quality and is well worth the read. It also introduces some of Bardon's practices and beliefs and includes the existing fragment of his last, unfinished work on hermetic magick.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good little read
*by D***O on August 3, 2024*

Interesting story and really liked the bits from the Golden Book of Wisdom near the end. Though, the book itself was decent enough quality, there are only about 150 pages of text so I felt the price was a bit high for a book so short and an edition that is still quite readily available.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great fast and entertaining read
*by C***E on December 15, 2010*

If you're a Franz Bardon student then how can this not be a part of your collection? I really do think this is great for anyone who really has no introduction to magic and Hermetics as it gives you an idea of what a Hermetic Adepts life maybe like. It was very fast and easy to read also which I really loved about it. It was not hard to understand at all. You could read it in a day easy. I feel it has many potential truths hidden within. It is not an autobiography but was allegedly from a manuscript Franz Bardon passed to one of his students to finish for him. Yes it may most likely be exagerated in some parts but that's ok. I don't believe one should really take anything as 100% true just because they read it somewhere or hear it somewhere unless it feels true to them. One should always have an open mind with anything especially this sort of material.I really like that it contains a fragment of what was to be his 4th book.I have to say it really helped me to understand more the why I wish to pursue Hermetics.
