As a writer, these little notebooks are preciously priceless. They're not a scratchpad, at least not how I use them. They're pocket sized to accompany me to client meetings, sessions, seminars, art galleries, libraries, coffee shops, and other places where creativity can hit suddenly and you need a space to let it flow.
