No additional weights can be added and I wouldn't suggest using cast weights either. The handles are made out of a hard plastic. If you're looking to stay toned and not bulk up or live in a small place then these are perfect. The weights are in kilograms and not pounds.

Q: Can I buy extra dumb bells to increase the weight?

I would not suggest it. The bars are made out of a hard plastic and are probably tested for just the weights that come with it.
