Great Quality and Functionality
I absolutely love the Rothco GI Style Canvas Butt Pack! The olive drab color looks great, and the canvas material feels really durable. It’s the perfect size for carrying essentials without being bulky. The pack is comfortable to wear, and I appreciate the classic military style. Whether you’re hiking, camping, or just need something practical for everyday use, this bag does the job. Highly recommend it for anyone looking for a reliable and stylish option!

Exactly What I Needed for Day Hiking - Completes My LBE Ensemble
I just got my bag today. so I have not had a chance to use it yet. But it looks like it will hold a lot of stuff. Which brings me to the issue of the dimensions listed. The Product Description says "14.8 x 9.8 x 2.3 inches." But that is when the bag is empty and flat. A card that came with the bag says that it is 9" x 8.5" x 6" The bag I received would be about 9" x 9.5" x 6" if full. In addition to the straps on the front that hold the cover down, there are two straps attached to the back and go under the bottom that fit into buckles on the front bottom. They can be used to provide additional support to the bottom if you are carrying a heavy load in the bag. Or they can be used to secure items such as a rolled up poncho. (The front straps are long enough to secure a poncho to the front of the bag.) There are two tabs on the back that allow LBE suspenders to be attached directly to the bag to support it while ALICE clips attach it to a pistol belt. There is also a cloth handle on the top of the cover. There is a cloth liner inside the bag covering the sides of the bag, but not the bottom. The liner can be pulled up and out. I'm not sure how it is intended to be used. Yes, the material is a little lighter than the old canvas I was accustomed to using years ago, but it should be sufficient for the hiking I do today. It will be a great addition to my LBE ensemble. With this, I should be able to carry everything I need for an extended day hike of several hours.

Not bad but the color olive drab is up for interpretation.
I got one to make saddlebags for my motorcycle. I have a butt pack that I bought about 15 years ago and thought they would look good. I noticed the shade of olive drab is different between the two and is a little off from the picture, it's more brownish. Both are different from my M-65 field jacket and another mil-spec backpack I have so I assume each company has different dyes. The quality is about the same, definitely not mil-spec but I wasn't expecting it for the price. It should work for stashing away some extra riding gear I take with me like extra glasses and high visibility vest, maybe a bottle of water. It looks like it'll be a decent bag and if the color difference bothers me ill just buy another. If you're looking for a mil-spec to go with surplus A.L.I.C.E. gear I wouldn't recommend this, I'd spend the extra $20 or so and get surplus.

Little in the middle but it fits my back
Seems like fairly sturdy material. The metal clasps are flimsy. I'll be reinforcing some stitching because I know rothco. Looks like it can also be used as a back pack with the mounting points on an h harness with an additional buttpack. Not exactly usgi but not a bad way to carry a sleep kit or first aid

Packing up the butt pack
Heavy duty construction. Absolutely satisfied with it. Perfect for a minimum gear overnighter.

Solid
I'm generally not a fan of canvas combat gear, but this is a serious exception. It is made tough and fits my needs pretty well

My dislike about the U,S army butt pack is that I ordered a olive green but I recived a brown but pack. 2/ there isn't a draw string to close the inner pouch to stop your items from falling out. 3/ The stitching on the inside of the flap looks as though a child has dun it. The stitching is all over the place. 4/ On the side straps ov the pouch thay should be small eyelets to attach items like a extra pouch for a water bottle or to carry extra rashions for when your in the field. I'm verey un happy about this item needless to say I will not be useing this company again. It a total ripoff.
