I needed to repair a 2x2ft section of stucco. First started with Rapid Set Stucco patch to fill the large area and laid it in level. The patch left a surface that was too smooth as compared to the surrounding stucco. I tried all kinds of approached to achieve the right textured finish. None came close. I needed a rough 3/32" bumpy surface. In desperation I bought this roller. I used wall tile mortar mix at a normal to wet consistency. I spread a very thin layer over the area to be textured with a trowel/spackle knife and then used the roller to create the texture. You will want to experiment first on a flat board to find the right mortar mix moisture consistency and roller pressure for your finish. As noted by other reviewers, using this for sanded paint will probably not work. The plastic roller loops are to big to hold paint but worked great for the mortar mix. You might be able to texture the stucco patch directly if it has not cured and you keep it wet. Highly recommended.,

Not the proper tool for my job. I bought this on recommendations I read about spreading wood floor finish. Not the tool for that. But the reason I gave it 3 stars is the price and the fact it came with a kink in the middle of it. It seems to have been bent to the point of partial failure of the cardboard tube making the whole thing UN-level when it roils. Couldn't have used it if it was the proper tool because of that. Get this kinda thing locally so you can return and revise your approach.

This is a fine little roller that does the job for texturing ceilings. The main point to remember about this item, is that to use a fairly "loose" mix before applying to the ceiling. If you use a basic batch out of the pail, it will be too thick and not apply evenly. I had to get my texture to a peanut-butter like consistency, but after that this roller did the rest. You can spend hours doing it by hand. No one will stop you. However, when you are physically tired and drained, then order this roller to get the job done. Don't waste time being too cheap. This item was made for a purpose, and does Great when you use it correctly.
