PENTAIR SHURFLO 4048-153-E75 Electric Water Pump

Our 10 year old pump in the motorhome gave up on us. I decided to go with this model - higher pressure, great reputation. The install process was relatively easy. If you are replacing a pump that was a 7 amp pump, you need to get the proper 10amp Intellitec controller module as well. That delayed the install process while waiting for one to arrive. The new pump was heavier and a bit larger than the old, but easily fit into the large bay. The screw on fittings I needed were all in the package. Hand tight as the directions specified was all that was needed. NOTE: 12 gauge wire to power the pump is specified. I did need to replace the smaller gauge wire to meet the current draw of the new pump. If in doubt, check your wire size to see if you need the larger wire as part of your install. Overall I spent about 3 hours total on the install. The removal of the old pump was harder than the new install since the screw heads were rusted and required some effort to remove. The pump is self priming and works perfectly. Take your time, follow the directions (I know what a concept) and it goes well. Then remember to do the maintenance on the filter screen as directed too - it helps keep the pump working well.

I purchased this because it is a direct replacement for Shurflo 5.7 gpm model. This model list at 4 gpm. I installed this on a horse trailer water tank that allows you to wash your horse with hose and it works well for this plenty of water flow. The manual recommends 1/2 inch tubing so I removed all the smaller 3/8 tubing and connectors and replaced with 1/2 inch. I used black sprinkler fittings that have threaded 1/2 inch make on one side and barbed male 1/2 inch to insert into new hose to connect to tank and one to hose bib. I also changed out 15 amp fuse holder with #12 wire sized and replaced all wiring with #12 because this is recommended by pump manufacturer. After install pump worked great but did not shut off. This was because the bypass valve pressure was set to low. It lists this in manual but does not I identify the valves adjustment screws. You adjust this with very small Allen wrench on the side of the pump. The pressure valve was set too high this is the second small Allen wrench adjustment where the blue hubbed wire attaches. I first turned the bypass valve the one without the wire clockwise the screw goes in about 2 complete turns to raise the pressure setting and then turned the pressure valve that has the blue hubbed wire counterclockwise 2 turns screw comes out slightly to Lower the pressure at which pump shuts off and it worked great. If the pump starts shutting off too many times with water flowing just turn the pressure valve clockwise a 1/4 turn. The old pump did not have thses adjustment valves.

This is a very nice pump.The pump arrived with a strainer and two hose fittings.Installation in my motorhome was a breeze.I had no issues with the water pressure settings...no adjustments were needed...water flow was good at both faucets and shower.There is some noticeable noise but it's not objectionable.The previous pump had a softer base...the 4048 that I received had a hard plastic base...this might allow for more noise vibration in some installations.I would recommend this pump.

I had the previous version (smart sensor 5.7) for 19 years and never had a problem. Installed this replacement version and its s piece of crap. Dont understand why it sputters and has air in the line. I have no leaks in my lines that would cause it to suck air or lose pressure. If you run it on low flow, it keeps running after you close the spigot. Its like its sucking air. We have to turn the pump off to get it to stop running. Only when you run it full blast will it rattle the pipes and then shut of when you close the spigot. I do not recommend this pump.UPDATEI installed the shurflo flexible tubing set and it completely corrected the problems described above. My pump was attached to all rigid pex piping and that was the problem. We are happy with the performance of the pump now.

This pump was a replacement for the original pump in our 2014 Entegra Cornerstone motorcoach. The installation was very easy, although this pump is slightly larger than the original and I had to alter the mounting slightly but nothing difficult. The additional water flow is very nice and actually seems to be better than the city water pressure. After 3 months of use on our travels, it appears to be working nicely and I would recommend it for similar use.

this shurflo is a great pump quiet,great volume ,carefully packaged,easy install,do not buy usa adventure pumppoor packagingfirst pump loud and running very roughdid not want replacement but they sent one anywayreturned both still no refund

Second one of these pumps we have works great can’t ask for anything more needed to make a small adjustment now runs perfect

Got one pump with broken foot. Returned and repalcement does not pressurize. This is a hot spare with an identical unit so no setup issue here. That is two deffective items from the same seller... Very disapointed.
