Can the device be used just using distilled water for steam, or do I have to use the oil every time I use it? How big are the plates?

The directions specifically say not to use water or any thing other than the argan oil!!! You do not have to turn the steamer on. There is a dial that controls the steam. You can use high steam, low steam, or no steam while you straighten your hair!!! Hope this helps!!!

If i buy the cortex straightener from the u.s, does it work also in the european electricity? i live in israel.

Hello I live in the U.S and we have a 110 outlet that is what it takes for them to work they are great irons but the oil tray will break and I have not been able to replace it nor buy any more oil for it. I just use it without the oil in it
