Amazing percussion instrument!!! ********** (10 stars)
This travel didg is amazing! Got my first one this morning. Had never held a didg before, although I've researched and studied about them for the past few days. When I put this new to my lips and "rasberried" into it, it took on a life of its own. After a couple of hours I had found the sweet spot, and was able to make numerous sounds. Circular breathing is a little hard but it's coming. This solid Mahogony instrument is a steal at this price. After using it for 6 weeks now, I'm totally sold on its performance and variability. The mouth piece is extremely comfortable - without wax - and measures 1 1/4", which allows for deep overtones. It's rated as playing in D but I can easily vary the key down to C and up to E. It has amazing volume for such a small instrument, but would need to mic it for gatherings and for outside use. The wood is smooth as silk, semigloss finish, smooth to the hand and lips, and sooo lightweight. It can also be easily muted by the hand for playing effects. This Didge is a perfect fit for handicapped or chair-bound individuals. If you've been wanting one but were hesitant about this one, I say, by all means, "Get it." You won't be sorry. I just love mine😀😀.

Excellent practice instrument - not recommended for performance or recording.
Very good practice didge. I wouldn't "take it to the studio" as the add implies, but think it sounds fine overall and can at the very least produce a very pleasing drone that rides primarily around D. Not very loud at all which (for me) is ideal for practicing in an apartment and late at night - it is about the volume of a moderate hum. As a performance didgeridoo, I would probably only give it about 3 stars, while the tone is fine and it does seem to be dead-on for a drone in D, the harmonics and trumpets are not easy to reach and don't sound especially pleasing. HOWEVER, if you are looking for a small, light didgeridoo to learn on or to practice circular breathing on or develop technique on - without vibrating the walls, this is about as ideal as a thing can be and you really can't do much better than this little box (as a practice instrument). As an aside, for someone just learning circular breathing, I found that the ability to partially cover the "bell" end with your hand to increase back-pressure is quite helpful in the beginning (and unique among didgeridoos). Just be clear of what you want from it before you buy it - this is not a $500+ Agave/Ash/Maple/Yucca/Eucalyptus hand-carved, performance didgeridoo. What this is, is a solution to the problem of "how to I practice and/or learn to play didge without annoying my family/neighbors/housemates" - and as a solution to that problem, there is nothing better out there.

Handy for Practice and Great for Travel
What I love about this didj is the beautiful wood, light weight, and miniature size (like a somewhat long & fairly thick paperback book). It's incredibly handy and great to carry along on trips. I always have it beside my desk to grab whenever I feel like having a little practice. The sound is pretty decent for such a small instrument, but it doesn't begin to match even a modest-quality "normal" wood or pvc didgeridoo. In that regard, the 4 star rating is a bit generous. But the convenience of this little didg means that I do a lot more impromptu practicing than I would otherwise. And the price is reasonable, it's fun to play, and it's very easy to carry around--so I'm happy to give it a high recommendation.

This was the best rated of the ones I looked at
I received this item and began carrying it in my suitcase approx. 6 weeks ago. I am a weekly business traveler and had been looking at a travel didj for a while. This was the best rated of the ones I looked at, so I figured, "why not?". The wood is smooth and uniform with no sharp edges or splinters. It feels to be rather solid and well made, and has held up well so far with 6 weeks of usage. Is it anywhere near as loud as a five foot long eucalyptus didgeridoo? Not even close, but that's one of the main characteristics I was looking for (aside from size). I know that I can sit in my hotel room every night and rock out on this thing and not have to worry about the people in adjoining rooms calling the front desk to complain about me. As far as negatives (to some, not me), higher pitched vocals seem to be out of the question, and it feels like it takes a lot more lung power to keep a strong rhythm going. As such, I don't know that I would recommend this to a beginner or to someone who is looking to really play. To me, this is a purpose built instrument and fits my needs perfectly: compact enough to easily fit in a carry-on (without having to sacrifice too much space), quiet enough to play in a hotel room and convenient enough that I have no excuse not to play every night. If you're in a similar situation, or if all you're looking for is something to circular breathe on to build/maintain lung capacity with, I highly recommend this product.

very pleased!
I ordered this as a gift for my boyfriend, and we're both very, very pleased with it. It's a very reasonable price, and It came within a reasonable amount of time. it has a great sound despite it's small shape. it may be a tad bit quieter than the average didgeridoo, but that's expected. It's very easy to pick up and play, we take it everywhere. It's very solid feeling, and high quality. The only flaw we found was a little gap between two pieces of wood that wasn't completely sealed, but no air leaks through, and it doesn't cause any problems for the sound. If your skeptical I suggest watching reviews on youtube. It's good for beginners as well, we let a couple people who had never played a didgeridoo try it and they picked it up within the hour. Thank you!

Good starter instrument, not great for heavy use.
This was my first type of Didgeridoo. At first glance the product looked well made, had a nice finish, and made some great sound. Learning the instrument was fun. Sadly after about 10 days of playing it twice a day 30 minutes each session, the tone of the instrument became less clear. After a while it became downright muffled and the performance seemed less responsive. I soon noticed that a small crack had developed where the mouthpiece section meets the body and causes air to escape. Apparently the humidity from using it too frequently has permanently altered the characteristics. I've tried to dry it out with gentle air from a hair dryer, warm air, blowing it out with pressurized air and nothing has really improved it. However I still continue to use it every day while driving to and from work. It's compact size is perfect for use in the car or to throw in a backpack. I've since purchased a full size didgeridoo, but this one has much better back pressure and range and responsiveness. In other words, it's still fun.

Fun, convenient, and decently constructed.
It arrived intact and ready to play. I haven't noticed any issues with glue or anything like some people have brought up. There isn't any structural damage to it either, so I'd say that it's good quality. No visible defects/damage on the surface either. As a beginner with a few years of trumpet, playing a drone took all but five minutes, and it's been really fun playing new sounds and modifying the drone for a few hours today. I'll update this review after I travel a bit with it, and after a few months of use. My first impressions are that it's very light, has a good sound to it, and is a blast to play.

Mouth Mouth Issues 👎🏽
I've been practicing on this Meinl Didgeridoo about once a week on the go since Jan 7th 2023. I use a full size Didgeridoo at home. In less than a year the mouth piece is deteriorating.
