Sometimes your hurt and rejection is so deep that you just want to get away from it and Brady just ran away from Palmer without thinking clearly. She on the other hand is in so much pain about her mother's illness and don't want to hold Brady back from realizing his dream of rebuilding his business. But fate, and a bit of manipulation from a friend, had them crossing paths again. Their passion flares up again but deep down they realize that it's much more than that. However, Brady's hurt about the past and Palmer's struggle with her responsibilities made them reluctant to face the truth about their feelings. It is also a heartfelt story about having to care for a disabled person as well as saying goodbye to a much loved parent who is dying of cancer. You can feel Palmer's heartache and anguish and I cried with her as she spent her mother's last days with her. And even in the final pages of the book you can still feel how much she misses her mom. It took me a few days to gather my thoughts.A second chance at love for Palmer and Brady after many words were not spoken. Palmer made the difficult decision to let Brady start over and build his construction business while she was needed to care for her family members. After a year apart, Brady and Palmer are working together on a new construction project. Can Brady and Palmer reconcile after finding out the reasons for breaking their engagement? This story hit close to home for me since I had recently lost my sister to the same illness as Janelle. I felt every emotion which was to be conveyed by the author.
