Great sound, iffy Bluetooth implementation.
Fantastic product. Good sound, easy to use remote. Strange speaker connections on the rear (twists for the front, spring-loaded for all other speakers). Bluetooth implementation needs some work though. Even when using a low-latency set of Bluetooth headphones AND selecting the low latency setting when pairing the headphones, still had sync issues with vocals. The receiver won't play back music via AppleTV when using Bluetooth headphones, but the manual does warn you that not all playback sources may be available with Bluetooth. Not a deal breaker but I did have to get an external Bluetooth transmitter/receiver device and run it through the Zone B hookup. Over all, a good buy and definitely worth the money.

Almost 5 stars
Sounds great , Easy to set up the only thing that held me back from 5 stars was the little teeny tiny twist and clamp speaker wire set up for the majority of your speaker wires, I have ran 12 gauge wire to all my in wall and ceiling speakers and it took me hours to get these to work with my large wires. My other Onkyo Receiver accepts all banana clips and worked well. I did not even notice that this one was different. It is apparently designed for really small speaker wire.

Surround is great
So,I blew up my last Onkyo..was the nr676..literally parts were smoking..had so many update issues with it..decided to go with this one..less power but still rocks pretty good..very clear and for some reason the surround works soo much better out of this one, very distinct ..love the quick controls on the remote for tone..I switch a lot due to jamming or movie..some times I like more bass, sometimes I don't.. I recommend this reciever for sure..mains are old klh 15in woofers 4 way..sub,self powered, 2 rears are bookshelf klipsch 6 inch 2 way.. center is klipsch 3 way... running 5.1.. does do 7.1 but I don't have

My old Sony STR-HR540 is better sounding
There are many problems with my unit and unfortunately Onkyo was aware of them before I purchased it. I had to call the support staff many times and although they are very nice and helpful, the device is plauged with work arounds and reconnection and reboots. The on-screen display for the menu and settings to the TV mostly doesn't work. They suggest that I convert the HDMI to network cable and back to HDMI at the TV. I assume that the receiver doesn't generate enough current to make the display work properly. The sound quality is good if you don't use the included microphone as all my measurements were completely wrong and it sounded like built-in tv speakers when used. Resetting the collected information with the correct measurements and some tweaking made it sound as good as the older Yamaha it replaced. I have to question the quality and engineering of this product as mine just has too many problems for the money I spent on it. I seriously doubt that I would consider another Onkyo product unless they agreed to replace this with one without so many problems and work-arounds. My Denon and older Yamaha didn't have these problems. I am not happy. Update: There was an update to the firmware which has improved the system's available setting screen which is now working (at least for now) so I am adding one star. I have the units sound better by manually making the adjustments. I would say that I am happier, but honestly this product should have been launched when it was fully tested and ready for consumers. Update 2, one out of ten times that I use it, the sound doesn't come on so I have to turn it off, then back on to get the sound to operate. Seriously the unit I have is not good. I'm thinking about going back to my old Yamaha. I am VERY dissatisfied and I can't afford to replace this for a while. Shame on Onkyo for making this poor quality of Home Theater Receiver. Update 3: This Home Theater Receiver continues to disappoint me. The sound is satisfactory if I manually input the speaker distances but the screen and sound doesn't work for me most of the time. I recently moved an older receiver from Sony into the same place and it sounded just as good as this Onkyo HTR. Since it costs much more, I can't recommend this receiver at all. Onkyo support doesn't seem to want to support this product any longer. This will be my last product from Onkyo since I feel this is simply inferior to Sony and Yamaha products. I am very unhappy!

UPDATE: This is the SECOND Onkyo Ive had and both stopped working within 2 years.
UPDATE: The first time I powered up it made a single LOUD banging sound (scared my dog). I went ahead with the setup and aside from no Bluetooth connectivity, it sounded fine. But, the sound of someone banging a metal spoon on my receiver every time I turn it on sort of alarmed me. I put my hand on top and I could feel it shake the entire box. ok... I "guess it's normal"??? Well, fast foreword 18 months and that loud banging sound stopped, but so did the ability to connect ANY output. My TV wont recognize it, my Xbox wont, DVD player wont... Still powers on (all the lights, everything looks normal) but not able to connect with anything. Im done with this junk. This is the second Onkyo I have owned, the first would not connect with a Mac because Airplay is always trying to connect. Apple AND Onkyo told me there was no way to turn Airplay off. Then Onkyo "fixed it"... I connect to Bluetooth and all is well with my new 5100... UNTIl it disconnected a few minutes later. Sure enough, Airplay was trying to connect so my Mac disconnected Bluetooth. It would have been nice if Onkyo really had installed an Airplay bypass of some sort. My iPhone connects and stays connected with no problem. Update. Its hit or miss. 80% of the time it connects and works with no problem. Other times it just wont connect at all. I have tried EVERYTHING. Turned off every bluetooth device in the house, turn off laptops, PC, EVERYTHING! Still no connection to ANY Bluetooth device. Give up, ignore it (use Jambox while playing pool), then the next day, try again and it connects perfectly in a few seconds and stays connected all night. Two days later... NO GO!

Recomendo a marca!
