Penny Dreadful: The Final Season

I have reviewed the first two seasons - this is for the third and final season. Most series end in disappointment - this one did not, to me. It is a very acceptable ending, tying up many loose ends. Some highlights was the addition of Brian Cox and Wes Studi to the cast. Wonderful! There were two problems for me - the setting left London and the at-last appearance of Dracula was a huge disappointment. Dracula was not up to par, even to Renfield. Only character that was a letdown. But as in the first two seasons, the main cast acting remained superb, the settings were lavish, the costumes amazing, the photography was lush, and the museum setting was incredible. There was the usual depravity, sex and blood, but it can just be ignored now. All in all, this is one amazing series and would be hard to surpass. If you can stand a lot of gratuitous sex and blood, then this is definitely worth every minute of time spent in very dark minds.

this 3 part trilogy is one of the best things i've seen in ages. the story is amazing, the acting is brilliant, in fact, eva plumb, who plays vanessa ives is absolutely brilliant - i think she does an oscar wothy performance. the characters are fabulous. it certainly wouldn't be for everyone. i suggest you read some reviews on google. it is not for the faint of heart. it is VERY dark. this third one brings together everything wonderful and you realize it has just been a long story. it's not meant to be a series, though i wish it could be.

My friends and I have been watching this series. We LOVED season 1 and can't wait to watch season 2. We also ordered season 3. The casting is excellent! It is somewhat dark and has some bloody and "carnal' scenes, but its not over the top. The costumes and settings are superb! I highly recommend it!

+++Warning, this contains minor spoilers from the prior season, but no major season three giveaways+++ Season three, which would ultimately be the final season of Penny Dreadful picks up after the events of season two, resulting in the characters being scattered and alone. Ethan is whisked back to America after turning himself in for the murders at the inn, Vanessa is still in London undergoing therapy, and Sir Malcolm is in Africa. As the prior season had, this one has a bunch of mostly parallel storylines that intertwine over the course of the season. The main storyline this season involves Dracula, who has been teased since season one, and the storylines of the big three characters culminate in a battle versus Dracula. For those who get the Blu-Ray, the show looks and sounds great in HD once again. There are a lot of CGI effects that get worked seamlessly into the practical shots, so it really does look like it was shot in Victorian London. The extras are fairly sparse, especially for the final season of the show. There are a handful of short making-of and behind-the-scenes featurettes that run about 12 minutes in between all of them, and then some character profiles. Overall, the season is good, but it ends pretty abruptly and makes the curious choice of introducing new major characters who never get fully developed storylines because of the short run of episodes. If the writers and showrunners knew that the show would end after this season, it would have made more sense just to focus on the existing characters. Eva Green again deserves props for her portrayal of Vanessa. She can go from playing Vanessa as an upright Victorian woman to someone who is completely insane with ease. One of the best episodes of the season is one that shows Vanessa's time being institutionalized in an Asylum in a flashback episode. Green has to change directions with the character multiple times during that episode and does a wonderful job. The show is definitely still an adult drama with a lot of violence and nudity, but if that does not bother you, it is definitely worth your time to watch (if you like horror stories). If you have not seen the show yet, definitely start with season one, and do not try to jump in at the end. If you have seen and liked the prior seasons, then you will probably like this one as well.

This dvd season was in excellent, new, unopened condition and I received it very quickly. A great purchasing experience.

I Loved Seasons 1&2 of Penny Dreadful, a Series That Originally Aired On Showtime That Got Alot of Positive Reviews So Once It Was Available On Blu-Ray On Jumped At the Chance To Check It Out. The Show Is and Was Different But In Such A Good Way!!! Though It's Somewhat Of a Twist Of Victorian Horror "Heroes" Blended Together via The Plot/Storyline It Somehow Comes All Together To Work In An Entertaining Way. I Guess Because I Enjoyed The First Two Seasons So Much That I Personally Set My Expectations For Season 3 Too High, But That's Just Me. Others May Enjoy Or At Least Like How The Final Season Ends. As Far As Picture and Sound Quality Goes This Season 3 Blu-Ray Set Is A Fantastic Viewing and Listening Experience and Ya'll Won't Be Disappointed On That Front.

This is the final season of this daring show, and as such makes me sad to see it go. The arc of this season is the final battle for all the folks as the split up last year to go their separate ways. Once again they must band together to fight the Darkness, and they do, after interesting side trips and the addition of new charactors and dangers. I can heartily recommend each of the four seasons, and once again ask why HBO and Showtime seen to be willing to move forward on projects like this whereas Broadcast networks do not.

Ich habe den Artikel nicht zurückgeschickt, da mir der Aufwand zu groß erschien und die Kosten zu hoch. Man muss folgendes wissen: Die DVDs können auf keinen Fall auf einem Gerät abgespielt werden, dass US-Formate nicht bedient. es ist auch zu überlegen, ob man dafür den Aufwand betreibt, und aus USA bestellt. Ich habe hier schlichtweg nicht aufgepasst, wäre für einen deutlicheren Hinweis des Anbieters dankbar gewesen. Auf den zweiten Blick ist ein entsprechender Hinweis erkennbar, das ist mir jedoch insgesamt zu mühsam und alleine deshalb würde ich bei diesem Anbieter nicht noch einmal kaufen. Der Anbieter hat sich sicherlich insgesamt an die Vorschriften gehalten. Mehr aber auch nicht. Die Kommunikation war entsprechend. Man kann ihm keinen Vorwurf machen. Also: AUGEN AUF VOR DEM KAUF!

Excellent Quality DVD collection to complete the edition🙂

Capítulos antes del final de la tercera temporada , Showtime y el creador John Logan anuncian que esta sería la última. Decian que así estaba pensada desde el inicio y es un argumento poco creible. La serie es grandiosa en su ambientación, vestuario, dirección de arte , ni que decir del enorme trabajo de Abel Korzeniowski en el apartado músical. Además del grandioso trabajo del reparto encabezado por la bella y siempre enigmática Eva Green más Timothy Dalton, Josh Harnett, Rory Kinnear, Harry Treadaway, Billie Pipper, Reeve Carney con grandes actores invitados como Patti LuPone, Helen McCrory, Simon Russell Beale, Wes Studi, Danny Sapani y Christian Camargo. El final es abrupto después de ver como la trama iba construyendo varios hilos argumentales más que interesantes aparte de Vanessa Ives y su lucha eterna , el desarrollo de personajes como Ethan Chandler y su tormentoso pasado, los vengativos planes de Lily , además de la introducción de grandes personajes que prometian mucho como la Doctora Seward, Kaetenay, Dr. Jekyl y Catriona Hartdegen. Mucho nos quedaron a deber con tan decepcionante final de una gran historia.
