Q: Does this game have magnets?

No, no magnets. The board isn't absolutely flat, it has the shapes of the buttons dented in, so the buttons fit in perfectly. You have to use the paws of Pete to pinch the buttons (they have a perpendicular plastic PC on the button for easy grip) and clip them in, then bring Pete over to your board and release pressure on the paws to place the button in its slot. It is one of my 3 year old's favourite toy! Very easy to use.
