Will these fit the knee pad pockets in 5.11 pants?

They should. I get them into Tru-Spec pants which have similar size openings. They take quite a bit of wrestling to get them in, compared to other knee pads options. Worth it though.

Will they withstand washer and the dryer?

Yes. I have accidentally left them in the pants multiple times while running them through the washer and dryer in the kneepads of held up just fine. I try to make a practice of removing them but sometimes just forget.

What are the height and width of the insert?

Approximately 9 1/2 inches tall, 5 1/2 wide, and 1 inch deep.

Will these fit with Carhartts?

They do. I did need to trim the top to fit other brand pants. Best in the pants knee pads I bought so far
