It may be too much for wide angles. On a 50mm lens it makes for a reproduction ratio of about 1:3.5 with the lens focused at infinity. A tube this short does not change much on a telephoto lens. It just allows them to focus a little closer.Nikon has been making these PK series tubes for decades now. They have great build quality. It baffles many that Nikon STILL does not make updated tubes with cpu contacts for the DX and G lenses! So these won't work with those lenses. You need to use an older AF lens with an aperture ring or any manual focus lens with the PK tubes. And if you have a lower end Nikon body such as the D3xxx, D5xxx, Dxx, there will be NO METERING regardless of which lens is used. If you have a higher end body, such as Dxxx(except the D100), D7000/7100, or Dx series, there will be metering in manual or aperture priority mode. Even if you use a cpu lens, the data will not be transferred through the extension tubes. Kenko makes some nice extension tubes that have cpu contacts and are compatible with all modern Nikon bodies and lenses. So if you want full capability, get the Kenko tubes.
