Works perfectly for my needs!Currently changing it to see how long it lasts on a full charge.It still goes off with the lid closed but I haven't been shocked yet altho I did test it on my hand just to see how bad it would feel.Only one question, Is there a warranty?

First off, to anyone who is considering purchasing one of these, here's a little bit of information on how they work. They create an electric current that travels between two points (this one having 2 sets, so 2 arcs crossing together in an X pattern). This electric current ignites flammable objects when they come into contact without creating too much excess heat. If you hold your hand over the arc there is no immediate heat as if you had an open flame. Unlike an open flame, whose heat distribution is linear the closer you get to the flame, and strongest above it, this is exponential. I can easily keep my hand half an inch away from the arc, but if I get too close, it suddenly becomes intensely hot. Stick your finger into the actual stream (or close enough that the arc decides to attach to you instead of the other point) and you are rewarded by a very sudden shock and a pinprick sized burn. I believe it is important for buyers to know this, because unlike a normal lighter that can light things near to it, this will almost not ignite unless it enters the stream. While this is safer than an open flame (and easier on me when lighting candles), it is also very frustrating. Here are some pros and cons regarding this device in particularPros:Very cool lookingWill light almost anything flammable if you can get it into the currentFairly "safe" in that it will only light something in or extremely near to the currentWind proof - Kind of. The reason I say this is that an extremely strong gust of wind may disturb the arc enough to prevent it from lighting anything, but if you keep the button held down, as soon as the wind dies down it will easily ignite. The current doesn't "go out" like a flame would.Cons:I own another one of these lighters, and I will tell you now this one is LOUD compared to the other one. It creates a very high pitched and audible whine sound. It does sound electrical (almost like the sound of camera flash priming) but think louder and a little higher pitched.The cap opens only AS FAR AS YOU SEE IN THE PICTURES. That means it really can only light cigarettes, brand new candles, or anything slim enough to fit in between the prongs. Candles that have burned a few hours, cigars, pipes, etc, will not work. I actually bought another one of these specifically because this one could not light a single candle in my house.Width of the actual igniting current is pretty narrow, which further emphasizes my above point. I lit my friend's cigarette with this and we had to angle it to make it fit properly to touch the current.Battery life - I know it claims to last 100-300 lights, but I saw as little as 75 lights before one stream died, and was followed promptly by the second one. On the other hand, my other one which I keep with me every day and play with all day long, has gone 150 before dyingThe device "turns on" even with the cap over it. While the cap arguably keeps the electric current contained in the event of an accidental ignition, I can attest that the electric current does heat the air around it, and if left depressed for a long time or in a position where it's constantly fired off accidentally, I could imagine the heat building enough to burn someone/something, or damage the battery or electronics of the lighter itself.Because of these problems I can't give it 5 stars. Yes, the X beam is cool, but compared to my other single stream lighter there are just too many things that could be better that pulls it back. If you want for the novelty and to adopt new technology, great! But there are better products out there currently

Works fine but doesn't keep a charge for more than a few days ... update... use one day and charge for three, must have a bad battery but it is pretty useless

It good for lighting small things only, especially cigarettes. If I can light anything with it like normal lighters it would have been 5 stars

Item arrived with scratches on bottom and side.

I bought on dec 20 and it got here dec 22 just in time to gift it to my boyfriend. I gave it to him christmas eve and he could not stop lighting cigarettes and playing with it. Its the only lighter hes been using since then absolutely no problems with it lightning or charging. Its really awesome and definitely worth the money happy i got this one instead of the $40 or $50 one. Now i gotta buy one for his brother too if you use a lighter daily i suggest getting this one!

It's good but not anything amazing. Doesn't have a safety and has a really high pitched scream that hurts your ears

Garbage, after only a few days of light use, the lighter stopped working. I charged it and all. When the button is pressed, it does not light the blue light at the bottom and does not make the arc.
