Not powerful enough
Not smooth ironing. My old steam iron did a better job.

I originally ordered another ‘normal’ steam iron, which, according to reviews was supposed to easily remove creases and glide across your fabric. It was a well known make, but definitely did not live up to expectations, it even had what looked like residue on the plate, which did not shift and made the iron drag on the fabric. Needless to say this iron is being returned! So after much deliberation, (due to the price), and research, I decided to give this Tefal steam generator a go as the reviews were good and the normal price was reduced by £100. Having never used a steam generator Iron before, I have to say I’m really impressed. The iron itself is lovely and light to use and the water tank is huge, meaning less refills. The unit heats up reasonably quickly and is very easy to use, but the most impressive thing is that creases come out very easily, and folded items are ironed both sides at once, so my ironing time is reduced significantly, winner, winner! So far I’m a very happy customer and at this time (having only used the iron once) I would definitely recommend this iron.

Every Iron I've owned breaks within 2 years due to the hard water in my area. In this case I've opted to use only distilled water - NOT deionised water. I hope this will prolong the life of this VERY expensive iron. I had a very cheap (£70) generator before, and this is a wold of difference. It is so powerful, the steam actually lifts the iron a little whist using it. It has a really easy to fill water tank, that holds 1.8L of water and lasts me a couple of weeks. It is also very easy to remove and put back. Just plug in and turn on. It takes up to 3 minutes to fire-up, but once up to temperature you can iron non stop for an eternity. There is no temperature setting for the iron head, and I've not tried delicates yet, but it seems to be good on synthetics that would melt under my old irons. The iron head glides nicely over all fabrics, and I've only needed to use a water spray (not included in this iron) once, for denim jeans that had been crumpled in the drier. The 'cable' between the base unit and the iron is a lot longer than on my last iron, which is great. You can also stand the iron head upright on your ironing board instead of having to return it to the unit as you do in many similar irons, which is also a massive plus. I'm struggling to think of any faults as of yet. Rest assured if I find any I will return and amend my review. I do emphasise the use of distilled water. I've been so disappointed with expensive steam irons in the past, but I've come to realise that if the water is not pure then they will always fail. Good luck if you choose to purchase!

So far so good ! I purchased this after my old generator steam iron died on me after many years. Same make Tefal . Really good sole plate , that does not stick to anything and there is no need for temperature settings for different fabrics which is an update to my old one . More compact and lighter than my previous iron. Just as good if not better steam output and works well on the stubborn cotton creases. Not a bad price as I probably paid the equivalent to that 10 years ago for the old one. My only bug bare is the cable storage , there isn't one . Which there was on my old one. Hence the 4 stars
