Pilates Review: Surpasses expectations - This is a wonderful book by renowed pilates expert Rael Isacowitz for anyone interested in Pilates. Some parts of the book dealing with musculature and the human body get slightly technical, which is to be expected, but nothing too intense. I am a beginner and while I'm taking private lessons, I felt that a book would also help immensely. This book breaks everything down really well, with a strong emphasis on form and posture. It also includes modifications. Exercises are categorized as fundamental, intermediate and advanced based on level of complexity, and as hip work, abdominals, foot work etc for the part of the body that's being worked. Breath work is an important component and each exercise includes details on when to inhale and exhale. There are exercises for the entire range of pilates apparatuses that include the Cadillac and wunda chair. Overall, I'm excited about practicing Pilates and highly recommend this book! Review: Great Instructional Reference Book - Has great pictures, descriptions and explanations, a terrific book!

Helpful
This is really helpful and well put together. I do appreciate the cheaper price point making it more affordable than other books I’ve seen. I did feel like it was lacking a bit in the abdominal area on the reformer. That would be my only complaint other than that it’s a lovely book. Well worth the price I’m glad I got it that’s exactly what I wanted. Was not aware that the book has broken up into three different sections Pilates table, reformer, and I don’t know what it’s called but it’s the more advanced Pilates reformer equipment. I thought it would be a whole book just on the reformer and that’s totally fine that it’s not. I can actually appreciate this since it means I can implement some other Pilates workouts without the reformer in my routine!

Book is extremely thorough
It is getting 4 stars because it arrived damaged. The book itself is excellent. This is at least the second, if not 3rd, book I’ve ordered from Amazon that is not packaged properly, it’s thrown in with other random things and through delivery gets bounced around inside the box and gets dinged up. I had to go back and check if I had ordered a used one. If I’m going to new it should be in perfect condition. I’m not interested in hassling with a return so I wrote it here as there is no other way to let amazon know they aren’t treating books well. Just some notes to other buyers: I had considered getting the spiral bound but I think now that it is too heavy for spiral binding. I don’t think it would hold up as well. The book covers exercises on all Pilates equipment with details on anatomy, breath and movement and modifications of the pose. Really good book for those who like all the information.

Pilates must have
Essential book Pilates instructors, students, and enthusiasts. Rael Isakowitz is brilliant and I'd also recommend his Pilates Anatomy book.

Good Purchase
From a brief review, it is a Great Book. Unfortunately for the Wunda Chair the list of exercises is very limited. I got the book with the last page folded and glued to the cover... Overall - recommended :)

Covers some of everything for the teacher or enthusiast. The matwork section is only the classical exercises so not suitable for anyone with medical back issues like bulging discs and arthritis but excellent level of detail for teaching and advanced practitioner. Book is about 360 pages so worth noting theory of practice = 46 pages of excellent information. Mat work = 73 pages / reformer = 100 pages / cadillac = 40 pages / chair = 17 pages / barrels = 19 pages / circle = 11 pages. So if you don't work with equipment you won't get much out of this book but if teacher training its a good investment.
