MakingCosmetics - Mica Powder - 4.4oz / 125g - Cosmetic Ingredient

After being frustrated with the high costs of my favorite mineral makeup, I decided to try making my own using a recipe I found on Wellness Mama's blog site. This was the product the author recommended (in addition to others). It comes in a 4.4 oz. plastic bag, but you only use a little at a time (1 teaspoon - 1 Tablespoon depending on the size of your batch), so I expect it will last several months (or years) for my purposes. It has a matte off-white/whitish color. It blended well with the other mineral makeup ingredients and provides good coverage. This was my first time making mineral makeup, and although I am still playing around with the color levels for my skin tone, I was very pleased with the results and will definitely be making more in the future.

Used this to make "Rheoscopic Fluid", which shows currents and movements inside a fluid. NOT for cosmetics purposes. It worked well for my purpose, but did not stay in suspension as long as I would have liked. Other than that it worked well for demonstrations inside a science classroom. Price was good for it's purpose.

I use this for a dry lubricant in everything from door locks to the inside neck of ammunition during resizing. It works well and is much less expensive that buying the common small containers.

I was really disappointed that the powder didn't have any shimmer. I even applied it and took it out in the sunlight to see if it would shimmer a little outside. It's like I bought white powder.

I bought this to add to body lotion, and am disappointed. It's not much of a shimmer at all, not really noticeable.

If you're making make up and you're using colored mica powders than you don't need this one.

I use this as part of the base for my powder cosmetic foundation. It works great and keeps the powder from being too heavy and caked on. If you are making your own products I definitely recommend this.

This is the first time I've used a product like this one, so I don't have much to compare it too--but I LOVE the results I have gotten with my DIY foundation.
