Pixel 5a Commuter Series Case - Black, Slim & Tough, Pocket-Friendly, with Port Protection

A solid choice to protect my pixel. I've been using this for over 2 years and it's only just starting to show wear and tear! The rubber tab that covers the charging port has worn out and fallen off. After a painless call to OtterBox Customer Service, they are sending me a replacement free of charge! (just $10 shipping) I expect it will outlast the remaining life of my device.

I've had this on my Pixel 5a for about five months now along with the Supershieldz glass screen protector. It's been a great balance between protection and bulkiness. It's survived a few drops from about pocket-level height and no damage seen so far. The rubbery gripping areas on the sides/corners make the phone a little annoying to slip in and out of my pocket, but I'm sure it's part of the reason the phone doesn't shatter when hitting the ground. I added a pop-out stand and now it's a little too bulky. The flaps that cover the charger and headphone jack have been great, keeping them extremely clean. The speaker holes on the bottom collect a lot of lint and dust. I blow those out with a can of air at least monthly. When removing the case, there's minimal dirt and dust that has gotten between the phone and the case. Most of it is around the camera glass and the top of the phone, and even then it's minimal. There is quite a bit of dust between the soft portion of the case and the hard portion, however. And there isn't nearly as much dust between the Supershieldz protector and the case as I thought there would be. It's my first Otterbox ever and I'd absolutely buy another for my next phone.

Charging port protector broke off after a while but has otherwise held up fairly well. Started to see normal wear and tear. Plastic is lightly scratched and the rubber is breaking in some spots. My volume buttons are definitely worn down. Doesn't protect the screen that much, though I have a tempered glass screen protector on mine, so that hasn't been an issue. My only complaint is that it is that the Otterbox warranty isn't valid through Amazon, so replacements aren't honored. This model has also been discontinued by Otterbox, so it's not available on their website either for receiving a replacement.

I grabbed this case while it was on sale for ~$20. That is a great value for this quality case. It's formfitting and sleek on the phone, so it doesn't add bulk to it or make it unmanageable to hold like some other cases do. It has a nice matte finish, so it doesn't look cheap and blends in nicely. I also really like the slope under the cutout for the fingerprint reader. It makes it easier to access the fingerprint reader than other cases and looks rather stylish. The other great feature is that there are two dust flaps that cover the charging port and the headphone jack when not in use. They are easy to open/close with the edge of a fingernail and help protect the device. This is by far the best case I've seen for this phone.

Great case, can't go wrong with OtterBox. Strong, sturdy without being oversized or cumbersome. Slips in and out of pocket easily and lasted for the entire time I had the phone!

Dropped Pixel 5a twice uncased and screen cracked both times. Dropped Pixel 5a four times with Otter Box and nothing happened. (One of) The best brand for cases. Highly recommended.

This is possibly the best case I ever had. I like the soft rubber on the sides, well protected. My phone bounced out of the window of a Volvo 110 wheel loader and I didn't find it right away. Found it laying screen down in the dirt with a tire track across it. The window is in the center of the machine so it was only one tire that got it and the only thing cracked was the glass screen protector! And that's easily replaced. Perfect conditions though, a rock under the screen and I'm not sure it would have survived. I'm buying another one for my wife's Pixel 5A 5G. A Volvo 110 wheel loader weighs around 40,000 lbs, just saying...
