Best I've used
I won't say that this is the best you can buy, because I haven't used every leather conditioner available. And not every leather is the same - your experience with this conditioner could be different than mine, because you would be using it on a different leather. However, compared to other products that I've used more than once, including Zymol, Griot's, Duragloss 221, and Blue Magic leather cream, this is by far my favorite. I use Howard on the leather in a 2017 Armada, a 2004 Honda Pilot, and a 2002 Infiniti i35. All three vehicles have a different style (finish) of leather, and I'm very pleased with the results on all three vehicles. It has the greatest effect on the i35, keeping the 22 year old leather soft with no cracks or separations (I'm sure cracks will appear one day, but right now, the leather looks and feels almost showroom - I consider this the greatest testimony as to what the Howard can do when used regularly). The Armada has a modern, polymer-infused leather (like most modern cars), and while the conditioning effect isn't as pronounced, the Howard still makes a difference. While the moisturizing-conditioning effect is somewhat better than the other brands I listed (in my experience, the Zymol and Duragloss come in tied for second), where the Howard conditioner really excels is in how long the treatment seems to last. On my older leather especially, most conditioners disappear quickly and in a day or two, an application doesn't seem to have made any difference at all. The Howard is different. I try to apply every weekend on the '02 and '04, but the leather still gives an indication of conditioned suppleness after the week has passed. The longevity of the effect is superior to any other product that I remember trying. Virtually every leather conditioner out there has at least one review claiming that "it smells like leather!" I don't know what those reviewers think leather smells like, but it isn't like most leather conditioners. Most conditioners smell like chemicals, even ones that seem to contain only natural ingredients. I can't explain that, but in my opinion most conditioning products do not enhance the leather smell, and usually add a negative element that, for a few days at least, overpowers the interior. Now I'm not going to say that the Howard smells like leather. It doesn't, at least not exactly. However, it does not have a chemical smell. One review here says it smells like orange oil. I don't agree with that. I've tried to smell orange oil, both when it's applied to the leather and just smelling the product, but I can't. I also can't compare the smell to something specific. But I will say that it smells warm, round, and natural - similar to what quality leather smells like. The scent remains, just like the conditioning effect, for many days after application, and when someone gets in to the 22 year old Infiniti, I'm usually asked something like, "how old is this car?" or "is this new?" At the least, I usually get a "this car smells really good!" reaction. I like the scent enough that there have been times that I've applied it just to renew the scent. But remember to shake the bottle before you use it. The directions don't tell you to do this, but the product can separate - especially in a bottle that isn't completely full. I only have a few reviews on Amazon, but I'm writing this one in hopes that it will help Howard continue to sell this product for many years to come. I'm usually on the hunt for the next better product, but I have no desire to look for any other automotive leather conditioner. This stuff is really that good.

My Vintage Boots Look Brand New
5/5 -- Worth the money!! A few weeks ago I got this pair of vintage cowboy boots, originally made by a boot shop in Comanche, TX. These are full-quill ostrich boots. They were in good shape, but being from the 90's they looked a little dry. I called the shop, and the bootmaker said my boots absolutely need a gentle, clear polish with lanolin in it. Howard's leather conditioner is one of the few leather products on the market that still uses lanolin (sometimes called wool wax, because it comes from sheep) instead of some inferior synthetic chemical. It took maybe 1tsp per boot to get them looking brand new. This product isn't the cheapest on the market, but it will work wonders for good leather. Maintaining leather over its lifetime is an investment, and Howard's is well worth it. It left my boot leather soft and glossy. It has the added benefit of not being particularly oily or waxy like other products, so my boots aren't picking up tons of dust for days after polishing. Love it.

This company has earned a lifelong customer
I now seek out Howard's products. I have just as many glowing comments to tell you about their restore-a-finish line, and I bought that based solely on my experience with and admiration for this leather conditioner. The first time I put this on a pair of leather boots, I thought I had destroyed them. The porous markings of the leather were clearly visible, the color looked like water stains; I was horrified. As it turns out, those boots were just desperately thirsty and this product is a miracle balm. The product first makes a creamy sort of marking that looks like grease on the leather. On severely damaged things, I let this soak in for a while before I rub it with a soft cloth. The leather beneath will be transformed. Since discovering this conditioner, I have accumulated more items made of leather precisely because I knew I could restore any and all of them to glory. I have now used this to restore the life to three pairs of leather boots, all of which I bought second-hand in poor condition because I fully knew that they would not stay that way after Howard and I were done with them. I also bought antique leather boot ice skates and an old collegiate leather football in an antique store to give as gifts. Both of those items now have that glossy beauty that I -if you can relate to this image- associate with loved, expensive leather saddles (I'm not an equestrian but I'm sure you know what I mean). I even used this product to revive my elbow-length ladies' driving gloves. My husband had asked the day before if he should throw those gloves away because they had accidentally been stuffed in the trunk of the car with our work tools, and they were fairly beaten up with sun exposure (and a little brake fluid). I treated them with Howard's leather conditioner first. They're now to a level of beauty that made a non-metro male coworker stop an academic rant midsentence in order to remark "those are gorgeous gloves!" when we were putting on coats and whatnot to leave the office. I went around my house touching up all leather items (detailing and handles on my old steamer trunk, for instance), and have recommended this product to everyone I know who might need it or have cause to want it. My sister bought it on my recommendation and used it to restore a badly stiff and cracked old catcher's mitt which she then gave to my father for Christmas (he has just become a grandfather). it looked lovely. I also demonstrated to him on the old football how nice the conditioner is, and he got very excited and asked if I could restore his leather couch. I have since purchased Howard's restore-a-finish wood polishes for three varieties of wood, as well as Howard's brass polish. I highly recommend the whole product line, this leather conditioner included. I was always taught and have over and over learned that you need to have the right tools for the job, and you need to do the job well. Rest assured that if leather is involved, this is the right tool.

Brought my used couch back to life
My friend recommended this stuff. It took me nearly two hours to apply this thing to my couch but well worth it. I purchased a used, light brown couch and when I look at it up close, it looked REAL ashy. I didn't know leather could look like my skin in the winter. But after applying this on the entire couch, it's now softer, way more conditioned and now it's a slightly darker, much richer color brown. Well worth the investment. It says to apply sparingly but often but there was no way to apply it sparingly - my couch drank it up the second the cream hit the leather. I tried the rag method as an applicator and it was annoying because the rag kept rolling up in my hand while I was trying to apply the ream so I used a regular dish sponge and it worked a lot better.

Conditions And Waxes But Darkens Light Leather
I liked that this treatment actually conditioned and waxed my leather products without removing any color or damaging them like some other conditioners I've used. I would still test it in an inconspicuous area first like would with every new product like this. Apparently this contains neatsfoot oil, which I've heard differing opinions about. It also lists carnauba and beeswax wax as ingredients. This is not a light treatment but it does not feel greasy or oily. This definitely will darken lighter colored leather. A light tan will become chestnut. If you don't want that, use it only on black or dark colored products. Should be obvious that this is for smooth finished leather, not recommmended for nubuck, split/suede or aniline leather.
