A must-have for young kids with motor planning challenges
These Ticonderoga golf pencils have been an absolute game-changer for my kindergartner who has motor planning issues. He struggles to hold a standard-length pencil correctly and tends to move his hand higher and higher as he writes, which negatively affects his grip and control. The shorter length of these pencils naturally forces his hand lower, helping him maintain a more appropriate grip position. While this isn’t a cure-all, it has made a noticeable difference and provides consistent support during writing tasks. Because of their effectiveness, these pencils are actually included in his IEP goals by occupational therapy, which speaks volumes about their usefulness as an adaptive tool. They’re simple, affordable, and practical—yet incredibly effective. If your child has difficulty with pencil grip, hand positioning, or motor planning, I highly recommend trying these. Sometimes the simplest tools make the biggest difference.

Teacher approved!
Teacher approved! These are the pencils our daughter’s kindergarten teacher swears by! They are the perfect size and great durability/quality for little hands! We ordered her teacher a box for a gift- as she orders them out of her own money for her students! ❤️

Great for those struggling with the tripod grasp / proper pencil holding (forces better grasp)
I use these for my nine year old who still has issues with the tripod hold. Because they are small, they force her to hold her pencil correctly, most of the time. I think these would also be beneficial for younger children just getting out of the palmer grasp and learning to proper hold a pencil. They also are a high quality to write with, super sharp, and Ticonderoga has the best erasers. I will/would purchase again, but with 72 won't have to for awhile. Also, unrelated, but I've read that having children struggling/being stubborn holding the pencil correctly sometimes improve when writing standing against the wall. Just wanted to share for all the other parents whose kiddos are holding their pencils like cave people and are less than willing to change. IT'S IMPORTANT TO GET THIS CORRECTED BY AGE 6/7- I've done a ton of research on this and we're REALLY struggling with an older child because we didn't force it earlier. Don't delay and save your child and yourself both the heartache.

Highly recommend for early learners
As an occupational therapist, these are my go-to pencils for children ages 3–5 who are developing early writing skills. The short length of golf pencils naturally encourages a functional tripod grasp and helps prevent fisted or inefficient grasp patterns that are common with full-length pencils. The #2 HB lead writes smoothly with minimal pressure, which supports developing hand strength and motor control without causing fatigue. The built-in erasers are helpful for young learners and reduce frustration during early pre-writing and drawing activities. These pencils are durable, easy for small hands to manage, and ideal for preschool classrooms, therapy sessions, and home practice. They’re a simple, effective tool for supporting proper grasp development, fine motor skills, and early handwriting readiness. Highly recommend for early learners and anyone working with young children.

Small pencils.
I didn't realize these were very small pencils when I ordered them for my kid's school. That's my fault, but they actually work really well for k-1st grader's small hands.

Great price. Would like to have been able to purchase a smaller number of pencils. Got them for My son in law. He plays a lot of Board games and uses them for the score cards. Also my grandson is using them for practicing his printing . He is in kindergarten so a great size.
