NFL Films - Super Bowl XXXVIII - New England Patriots Championship Video by NFL

I first bought the Super Bowl video on Tom Brady's 4th win. This year, 2020, Tom went to the Tampa Bay buccaneers, and I was afraid that his other wins might sell out, and I would not have a record of them. So I bought all the videos of Tom Brady's Super Bowl wins that I didn't already have. I watch other teams during Sundays when Tom Brady isn't being televised in my area, but Tom Brady is my favorite. I only buy videos of Tom Brady's Super bowl wins, so I guess that means I am not a true football fan. This is a great product. The quality and coverage of these videos is great. I am glad the I have them.

I'm a huge Pats fan (living in Atlanta), so I'm gonna try and put on my objective hat here. That said, this is a dynamite DVD. Even better than the excellent SB XXXVI set from two years back. The images are sharp, navigation is simple, and as always, the narration is texbook power voice-over. The season recap is vintage NFL Films. I wish NFL Films could do my life story. They'd make breakfast seem like a monumental achievement! The NFL is to be commended for not shying away from controversial moments, pointing out bad calls such as the botched out-of-bounds call that went the Dolphins' way in October, or the disallowed TD in the Super Bowl. There is also excellent focus on the regular season highlights: The intentional safety against the Broncos, Bethel Johnson torching the Colts on kick returns, and the brilliant goal-line stand in Indy. The playoff coverage, when NFL films brings more cameras and crew to each game, is stellar. The editing and judicious use of "miked-up" players really brings the feel of the game across brilliantly. I can't say enough about getting to hear Gil Santos and Gino Cappelletti from the Pat's radio network. Great calls. The best pure sports part of the disc? The complete "World Broadcast" of the Super Bowl with Dick Stockton. You can watch every down, without the huddles, timeouts, etc. It's also fascinating to compare the shot-on-video World Broadcast with the shot-on-film recap, to see the warmth that film brings to these commemorative discs. Recently (February 26, 2004), the Boston Globe revealed that Tom Brady played the entire season on painkillers and anti-inflammatories for his throwing shoulder, was frequently kept out of practices, and then had arthroscopic surgery just weeks after the big game. Watching this DVD with that information in mind really slams home the point that this was one of the greatest runs in NFL history. Watch the section in the Super Bowl recap that shows Brady taking hits from the Panthers. This is no pretty boy QB. He is one seriously tough customer. For obvious reasons, no haltime show on the disc. You want to see halftime done right? Get the SB XXXVI disc, and watch U2 define "class act." NFL Films has done another bang-up job. It's no wonder they're the kings on Corporate Video. For the Pats fan-Must have. For the football fan-awesome disc. For the casual fan-worth it, just for a record of one of the most entertaining Super Bowls ever.

This is what I expected when I ordered the Super Bowl videos. The main feature is a highlight of the entire season, but in the bonus material they have the complete game. The full game on the bonus material is the game televised overseas to non-US audiences, so you will hear explanations that you normally wouldn't see in the use; e.g. explaining the yellow first down line, the line of scrimmage blue line, what a shotgun formation is, etc. The highlights were great and watching the full game was awesome though I wish it was in higher definition. Highly recommend this!

I liked the DVD. But I can't understand why they went with the "World" feed on the Super Bowl coverage as opposed to the CBS coverage. The only thing I can think of is that they plan on using the CBS feed on the Three Games to Glory DVD and just want people to have to buy both. Of course, this DVD cannot be as good as the SB 36 DVD because the story is not as good and the SB 36 DVD has the tremendous halftime show with U2. If you have to buy one, get the SB 36 DVD and relive the great Snow Bowl win over Oakland, the shocking AFC Championship win over the Steelers and amazing Super Bowl win over the highly favored Rams. That one also has a retrospective on Steve Grogan. But this SB 38 DVD is still a very good DVD and fun to watch.

This is NOT a DVD about the superbowl! I believe those reviews I read are advertisers writing in just to sell the product. My son bought this to see this superbowl because he is a Panther's fan and this was the only way to see that superbowl. The DVD doesn't even cover the whole game! It is just bits and pieces. The title is NOT HIGHLIGHTS! It says it is the game! Very disappointed and if the return policy didn't suck for Amazon, I'd return it!

Remember those old NFL Films with suspense and drama? Your know the ones with a musical score built for gladiators? Well, this is one of those. I actually purchased this DVD thinking it was the "actual" Superbowl game, but unfortunately it was not. Nonetheless, it was a spectacular film showcasing highlights the Patriot's Season and Post-Season à la mode gladiator.

Who wouldn't love this dvd? I did! My 3 year old son did also! I am a die hard patriots fan and this dvd is a must have for any fan. I would recommend it to anyone looking to relive the older days and is great for a collection or gift!

Patriotsファンなら楽しいDVDだと思いますが、Panthersファンなので、気持ちは一つ星以下、二つ星でも多すぎです。 スーパーボールも・・・・・な結果でしたが、Jake Delhomme全盛のプレイが見たく購入しました。DVDにはスーパーボールだけでなく、その年のPatriotsの記録も見れます・・・・Patriots Haterなので、不愉快です。
