Real Giant Bird Eating Tarantula EURYPEIMA SPINCRUS Spider Taxidermy Transparent Boxed Display (Black Wooden Box)

2 year UPDATE: So I have had this specimen for 2+ years now! It has been mounted in two different apartments and has endured loads of sun exposure and has survived being shaken around in moving boxes twice! It still looks amazing! A tiny bit of hair has shed off from being moved around but not a noticeable amount to anyone looking in. It has held up great and I can see zero deterioration of the actual exoskeleton! I am so thankful I pulled the trigger on this purchase back in 2018. It has been among my favorite specimen pieces over the years. Still highly recommend! Included 2 updated photos to show how well it’s held up! (08-09-20) ORIGINAL REVIEW: What you need to know: The tarantula itself came beautifully preserved, in tact and very carefully posed. You can tell someone put a lot of effort into this! The box it comes in does not include the hanging mounts or anything to hang it with, but is very easy to add a type of mount that would allow you to hang it if you choose to do so. The box is very nicely crafted and put together. (Based off of one review it was “slapped together”) I do not see how. The wooden frame is high quality and very well put together- the glass is nice quality and sealed nicely, no smudges inside and fully in tact. It comes vacuum sealed in shrink wrap (similar to a new hardcover book you have to unwrap) and I do suggest you open it outside and let it sit for a few hours at least! The smell is very strong but please understand that what you are smelling is the chemical preservatives used to keep the spider so beautiful and from falling apart. The little box in the corner- picture a cotton ball dipped in nail polish remover, but instead it is the chemicals that keep it from rot and decay. The smell does go away. The spider was about the size I expected it to be, I would like to remind viewers to remember that no two spiders will be identical in size or anatomy so do have some open minded ness. Mine came with its fangs pulled forward out on display and some come with the fangs tucked in. Little aspects like this will vary from specimen to specimen. I do wish more previous buyers would have posted photos so I am attaching a few here for you guys to see! Overall, I am More than happy ! This is a wonderful specimen and SO much better than I expected. I was super nervous about this because of some of the other reviews, but I can honestly say that I am more than satisfied with this purchase and actually plan to buy at least 1 more😋 it took exactly 1 month to arrive, so be patient as it does have to go through US customs, but was completely bubble wrapped and taped to perfection and then inside an envelope. Whoever packed it for me took the time to make sure it would arrive nicely, and if by some chance you end up with a bad one the seller is more than happy to fix whatever problem may have occurred. I am very pleased with the quality of this gift I bought for my husband! It looks amazing on his work wall. The shadowbox is not cheap. It’s very sturdy.

Yeah this is a big spider - is it record breaking - probably not - but it is plenty big for needs. Everything was like it is stated - it came in a frame and someone managed to meticulously spread the spiders legs and everything and it looks real good. They did such a good job it looks life like to me. Especially at first kept thinking - is this stupid thing alive!? But no, it is not - thankfully Very happy with this purchase - we used it as a prank - got major prank points - but the person that opened it was afraid of spiders (yes I was kind of mean) and they actually like laugh cried (so felt bad) after they screamed and dropped it on the couch. The crazy thing is (we probably got lucky) but the spider wasn't damaged and didn't get dislodged or anything from the drop. So whatever they did it was secured pretty well inside the frame. It looks great up close - and it looks really creepy from a couple feet back.

This specimen arrived in a timely manner, and was packaged very securely with several layers of bubble wrap, surrounded by a few pieces of styrofoam, all very secure. We noticed as we unwrapped it, the smell got stronger and stronger until it was eventually just unbearably funky. It's like a weird formaldehyde-y, old books-y, stale smell. It mostly dissipated as the specimen was displayed on a curiosities shelf, but if you sniff closely you can still smell it. We attempted to hang the piece with some command strips (as there are no existing mount hardware pieces anywhere or even space for them on the box it's contained in) but the piece unfortunately fell in the middle of the night, the material it's made of did not allow the adhesive to stick. :( Thankfully it was totally in-tact, and no damage was done to the spider!!! All in all, we're very pleased with this purchase as a shelf piece. It came in time, was carefully packaged, and is exactly as described.

My only problem with this company is they kept changing the date of when it was going to arrive other than that very happy with the product looks like a good quality I would buy from him again

It was small and shriveled with cracks on the abdomen, lacking the color and density of specimens on the product page and reviews of other purchasers. Poor preservation. Poor specimen. Especially for the price, perhaps look elsewhere.

Specimen arrived with mould growing. Now more mould growing and ants somehow getting inside the box. We have had to remove the perspex and trying to remove the ants. Not sure how to fix the mould?

The delivery time was exactly as described. The package was well packed and nothing is damaged. The spider was well prepared. His booty is a little bumpy but not bad. The spider did not smell like anything. I can imagine that the manufacturer has changed this due to previous reviews. I love it!

Open this specimen outside! It smells VERY strong of mothballs. My specimen is airing out in the shed for a week or 2, which I recommend doing unless you want your place smelling of mothballs. The spider is awesome! Very large! The one I received is nicer than the one in the photo. It is perfect! I love this spider. It is very scary. My Mom hates it. It's fangs are enormous! It is a beautiful spider. I'm very happy to add this to my taxidermy collection. This spider is a great addition to any insect or oddity collections. The frame it came in is quite nice, although there is nothing on the back to hang it by. I can fix that with a command strip (it is lightweight enough.) It took exactly 1 month to arrive from Thailand to Ontario, Canada. I would order from this seller again. It was a very positive experience and I would totally recommend.
