Glyph Studio 6TB Professional External Hard Drive

Just to be clear, I bought this to use solely as an extended storage device for my DirecTV programs. Because both this device and my DirecTV genie have an EASA input, I am able to store my programs on this unit which allows me to maintain a larger database of recorded programs. The downside is that if either my DirecTV genie or this hard drive fails, my programs are lost. DirecTV designed their equipment so each genie will be proprietorial with the attached hard drive. So far I have had no problems.

I purchased my first Glyph HD from a now defunct Apple dedicated store in Manhattan. Still have it working well after many years. This brand is relatively quiet, and just works. I have had several Western Electric and LaCie drives fail, but never (so far) these replacements. Excellent brand!

Could not have been easier to plug in, power up & start using the Glyph Studio S6000 6TB External Hard Drive with my 27-Inch (Late 2009) iMac! Apple has been pushing out security & OS updates that freeze my machine almost every time. A good, simple-to-use backup or Time Machine drive has become absolutely imperative. Blessedly, this 6TB fits the bill and could NOT have been easier to unpack & start to use.

Why is it so heavy. I hate it. I look like a fool
