These round wafers, also known as pappadums, consist of fragrant cumin and urad flour. They are rolled paper-thin, and dried out in the sun. In North India, papads are flame-roasted by placing it on a metal rack, a few inches above a burner. Once exposed to the heat, they will expand. Move the papad around quickly and evenly so it won't burn. Repeat to other side. In the South, they are deep fried in oil. Once in hot oil, they will expand and sizzle. Remove with tongs and place on paper towel to remove excess oil. Papads are served as an appetizer with coriander chutney, or served as an accompaniment to biryanis, pulaos and curries. A staple in every indian's home. Review: Taste good but.... - Not hot like some I've bought very good. Only bad thing is a lot were broken. Review: Just like home, delicious papad and excellent service. - Really just like home! Delicious papadum and excellent service. Arrived promptly and more or less intact; some were broken, but that's always the case. Very fresh and of good bouquet. I break them up to fry them because there should be enough hot oil for the papad to double in size, poof! the minute it hits the oil. However I no longer have a dozen people at the table so my khadai (wok) is smaller, the puddle of oil is smaller ... so smaller pieces to go poof is good. When we made them at home and dried them in the sun there was always a lot of breakage; chasing crows! Papadum are thin, brittle, and the cumin or pepper or chillis make holes in them. It's part of the charm! Be glad your papadum are untouched by crows! p.s. I'm not paid, I don't get anything for free... I just like papadum, Lijjat is like home, and they came here fast.

Very poor packaging
Papadom is very fragile. These should have been wrapped in bubble wrap as they arrived totally crumbled and a mess. I had to throw them out. Very disappointed.

Will order again
The Papad was good; the delivery was just slow, maybe due to the heavy snow. I will definitely order from them again.

Very tasty and easy to prepare
The cumin flavor was just right and not overpowering, and they had the same delicious flavor that I associate with Indian restaurants. I’ve ordered these multiple times, and only one package had a tiny bit of cracked edge, so I was able to cook the entire pack of papadams every time. I was surprised at how long they stay fresh in an airtight container, which made them the perfect snack to have on my counter. Just follow the instructions on how to prepare papadams and you will get perfect results. I always quickly fry in coconut oil or grape seed oil and drain on kitchen paper. I’ve never microwaved them, so I don’t know how they taste or what texture they have.

Good product, precarious shipping
I have ordered this product several times times and loved the taste and ease of preparation, I was very disappointed this time to find it arrived, crushed and since it’s a food item, there’s no return policy. I did speak with customer service at Amazon, who remedied the situation. This was not the fault of the seller but of the shipping from Amazon. The product is actually delicious.
