Quality product but (like all quality Valerian Root) smells horrible. Don't be alarmed-tastes fine!
This was my first time buying Valerian Root tea. I have become a big tea drinker and my doctor (MD) suggested that I try Valerian Root tea to help me sleep as it has calming and soothing properties. She did not tell me about the smell ... ha ha ha. When I first opened and smelled it, I thought, "oh, this is horrible." Then, I began researching and found that the worse that this tea smells, the better the quality??? Whaaat? ha ha ha So, I brewed some. At first I found it strong, but have now acquired a taste for it. The actual taste is fine. I just don't breath in through my nose before I take a sip. Also, I don't let it steep for very long like I do with other teas. I read that is helpful in diminishing the strong taste. It is helpful. If you are looking for a high quality Valerian Tea ... I feel that this is a good one! I would recommend and would buy again.

Great for bedtime
I bought this to blend my own tea for bedtime. A lot of people complain about the smell. I think it smells good. Great product!

If you like fever dreams and stinky herbs, this is for you
I tried valerian root to help me stay asleep at night—paired with chamomile tea. Not only did valerian root keep me asleep, but it also made my dreams extremely vivid, to the point of being nightmarishly real. You get a lot of bang for your buck with this product—as I’m still trying to get rid of the rest of it nearly a year later. The taste is awful, but can be managed by combining it with a more overpowering tea (*cough cough,* chamomile) and copious amounts of cream and sugar. The smell is worse than the taste, and will follow you into your valerian-induced fever dreams.

Taste is okay, smell not….
So after all the reviews about the smell, I still purchased it for my anxiety and insomnia. It does have great calming effect and effective if u drink it before going to sleep. But the smell is absolutely terrible, I kept in Ziplock (two of them) and it didn’t help much. Taste is okay, the smell is either from packaging or just when it’s dry. With hot water it tastes nothing like it smells. But half way through the bag I had to throw away because my household complained too much about the smell. I would repurchase if the smell issue is fixed!

Valerian Root - 8 oz - Cut & Sifted - Herbal Tea - No Fillers Or Additives
I LOVED this product, I did get a bit drowsy after drinking this tea and 3 5mg of melatonin right before bedtime, after 7p est. I also left all to do list on the other side of the door. Don't operate ANY machinery after drinking the tea. I've experimented with different combos of herbs. My favorite are the fresh blackberries from my garden, cinnamon sticks (I used these in hot water until they opened very wide, almost straight, this tells me that I have extracted all of the cinnamon sweetness), dried chamomile flowers, dried berries leaves (black & blue berries), fresh lavender, 1/2 tsp valerian roots (have a strong smells of Chinese herb that my mom used to brewed in the kitchen), fresh mints & fresh lemon grass from my garden. I steeped them a few times though out the day. The valerian is a bit bitter, hence the cinnamon sticks-it has natural sweetness & it made the tea more drinkable. The first 16 oz cup of tea is very strong, the second 16 oz is a bit milder. Drinking 32 oz of liquids prior to bed time, your bladder will interrupt your sleep. I'm able to sleep thru most of the night, until my bladder tells me otherwise, I'm able to fall back asleep after the bathroom trip as long as I don't start thinking about ANYTHING! I've been researching on the side effects of using valerian roots, every site I've read, there's a chance of internal organs issues, if you use this more than 6 weeks straight. Because of these side effects, to be safe I only use this 1 week on and 2 weeks off. I recommended this, however use your judgement. Update 8/7/25 I'm on my second round of using this valerian roots, it made me bloated and excess gas. Good thing it's for night time and I'm not in public

Great for overall health.
I use this when my anxiety is really bad or before bed to help me sleep. I’ve had anxiety and insomnia most of my life, I also have a mood disorder that I deal with daily without medication. I’ve been using Valerian root for over two years now and it’s made a huge improvement in my overall health. I use it with lavender, chamomile, ginger, and oolong.
