How do I secure the stone on a counter top for sharpening?

You would have to purchase a base or cradle if you really wanted to push over it. In my own experience however: I work over a wood bench, I lay the stone over small microfiber towel and it has a enough friction to keep it in place for sharpening knives and chisels.

Is there anything to do for breaking it in?

There are no directions as to how to break these plates in. People all over the net and YouTube say to break diamond plates in. Is it OK to break them in simply by sharpening or do you have to use a flat piece of steel. I don't have a flat piece of steel so what should I do?

I have seen some people say that this stone is only six inches long, despite it being listed as eight inches. What is the true length?

The Diamond sharpening plate has the following dimension I am a Metric guy from NZ so you have to convert to imperial yourself. Length: 223mm (8.77953 In) width: 70mm (2.75 In) Thickness: 12mm (0.50787 In) All the best

Why does it say dont add water or any liquid???

The box says don’t add water yet the directions on this site if you read the whole thing says not to use dry and add water or lapping oil. I’m guessing it’s a translation error? I think they just want to warn you that if not dried thoroughly it’ll get surface rust.
