The residual magnetic force of the magnets is very little once the fabric is between the magnets and the metal backing of the pins, so they should slide through your machine just fine! **Q: Do you get 5, or 15 like the package says?** A: It is 5. Amazon keeps messing with our product imagery and not using accurate (and old) images. The 15-pack is no longer available here on Amazon, but is on our website at www.sewtites.com. **Q: what is the size for each one?** A: Hi There! They are 1.78 x .5 in (45 x 13 mm) each. :) We have smaller models coming in early May (available for presale on our website now, just not here on Amazon). **Q: Do they scratch the throat area on a machine?** A: They should not scratch the throat plate on a machine. The back piece is relatively thin and should glide right over it. That said, it is metal, and you want to be sure you have the correct magnetic strength paired with whatever material or project you are working with. If the magnetic force is too strong for what you are working with, there is a slight chance the SewTite would want to "grab" the throat plate. If you choose the correct hold power for your project, the residual magnetic force is very little to none, therefore eliminating the issue of possibly scratching the throatplate.
