Review: Closest paint can get to looking like actual chrome - This paint pen is likely the closest you can ever get to looking like actual chrome. It is not just dull silver paint, it actually high gloss and very shiny. You can barely tell the difference between something actually chromed and something painted with this marker. I got it for Gundam models and various other action figures and toy projects, and used it on plastic, vinyl and metal and it worked great on all surfaces. I used it for a lot of swords as touch-up for worn-out areas, and it actually blends in nicely with the original chrome. It spreads well and doesn't goop up as long as you stop using it before it begins to dry. If it goes on a bit unevenly, it will spread itself out and smooth on its own a bit as it's drying. The trick is to not over work it and let the paint do its thing. You can go back after it's dry and add some more if necessary. It takes a little while to dry so it's not tacky, but it's safe to handle about 24 hours later. As with most paint pens, you have to be careful priming the tip because sometimes more than you want may come out, so it's better to prime it on something like a plastic cap so you don't get a big glob on whatever you're working on. The tip is rather thick, which is great if you're doing larger flat areas, but if you need to get into some smaller spaces it's better to let some paint out on a cap and then use a fine paintbrush. From touch-ups to spiffing up model projects, this pen is a great alternative if you can't afford to do actual chrome plating.
Review: Works great! Affordable solution to restoring "chrome look" to small plastic toys - This will get your toys looking ALMOST as good as new. If you don't want to work with expensive, dangerous chemicals, this is so far your best bet that I've found for small chrome style projects... I bought this pen after careful research and looking for ages for an affordable solution to restoring "silver chrome" surfaces to old toys (in this case, some heavily worn vintage Kenner "R2-D2" Star Wars figures). As many others online have suggested, after covering a generous surface of the plastic toy, I left it untouched on a shelf in the open air for 1 week (actually 8 days) before handling. It retained its shiny, mirror-reflective surface (far superior to the mere "silver" spray paint, acrylic paint and paint markers out there that don't look like chrome). It's not 100% perfect, the actual aluminum coating on "chrome toys" is somewhat shinier and brighter and I expect has a harder coat, being bonded directly to the plastic in most cases. I took the advice of others in working quickly, not touching the clean & dried surface while working, and not applying a second coat while it was drying. Over 1 week later, I can touch it (with clean hands) and it doesn't immediately dull as others have indicated happens if you touch it before 1 week. Overall it works pretty well. I would recommend though that the surface underneath should be as clean and paint-free as possible before you begin. I had previously painted one of these figures myself and while the reflective "chrome" coat looks beautiful, you can see the imperfections from my earlier brush strokes underneath. Now I only wish there were other versions of this, say in GOLD (then I could touch up C3PO!). I see others have tried "mixing" this chrome pen with acrylic paints to get other colors but the results have all been dull, in which case you might as well just use some gold acrylic paint, as you immediately lose the chrome effect. I have not tried applying a clear coat, as I'm told most clear coats dull the chrome effect. Update: I have had it recommended to me to use "Liquitex professional high gloss varnish" as a clear coat AFTER the liquid chrome has completely cured. I acquired a jar of this varnish (it was quite expensive, $18 for an 8 oz bottle at my local Hobby Lobby store) but have not yet attempted to see how it looks. The bottle says it is "permanent" so I will probably test it on a piece of plastic scrap at some point and post results, which of course will take more than a week to complete!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Worked great on my Ford Escape buttons!
*by A***A on August 2, 2025*

I used this marker to fix the chipped window control buttons in my Ford Escape. The color matched really well, it was easy to apply, and now the buttons look much better. Great quick fix and way cheaper than replacing parts. Highly recommend!
