For $20 you can't go wrong....looks good, improves sound quality....and easy to clean...much better than felt or cork ...and so far it seems to have improved static control....I'm pleased with it.

This blue acrylic mat doesn’t color your sound: It accents it in all the right ways. It doesn’t alter a turntable’s appearance: it accentuates the positive. Works beautifully with our Pioneer PLX-500. The difference is real.

Significantly decreased the level of static and improved the depth of sound.

I must start by saying that I was very skeptical that a turntable mat would make any difference at all in the sound picked up by the cartridge. However, the rubber mat that came with my turntable caused so much static electricity to snap and crackle when I removed a record that I thought something else must be better, for not attracting dust at least. (I did not hear any pops when playing a record that I could attribute to static electricity, even with the rubber mat.) On the plus side, this TT mat is completely static free, and the reproduction does sound noticeably closer to the musical instruments that were recorded, much to my surprise. And, it's attractive.On the negative side, the slick surface makes it difficult to clean the grooves with a brush, because its friction on the record causes the record to slip on the acrylic mat.Having gone this far, I also tried the Funk Firm Achromat 3mm pad. While this one also has the slipping issue to some extent, it's better, and the sound is even more accurate! If you want the best I've heard so far, I'd go with the Achromat, but this acrylic mat is a cost-efficient improvement that you will hear, remarkably.

It is a mirror shiny mat, wonderfully done, and it looks amazing on the plate. The arm needs a little height adjustment, but that is about it. Well done Hudson HiFi!Why it is 5 starts and I still returned it? Because it has one issue. The surface is so shiny, that even a tiny little piece of dust can scratch it and it collects the dust. If you can avoid dust, then this is probably the most beautiful mat you can get.

Now, I did really need to change my cork mat. Cheap, old, etc. I did not expect to hear this much a difference! My mids and highs were brighter and crisp is first thing I noticed... I didn't think a slipmat made that much difference. I saw a million reviews and I'm like... Okey dokey. Such an inexpensive investment, and very cool looking.
