I dont think it is preseasoned. In fact, it comes with a coating of black to see that it doesn't rust. We need to use a detergent and scrub to remove the coating inside before using it for cooking. After cooking and cleaning ,once again we need to put a few drops of oil and spread it evenly inside so that it doesn't rust. This has to be done after each use of the kadhai

Q: What is that coating on the kadai. should i scrub it off. how harmful it is ? it is giving a smell when i'm heating it.

Plese remove it completely till the actual iron is exposed, else you can't use it. I struggled a lot for its removal. Used liquid detergent, vanish, vinegar and and a hard scrubber, then only the pan was usable. Clean thourougly the inside area, leave it on the outer surface which gets exposed to flame.After every use, clean thourougly and put one or two drops of oil on surface spread it evenly to protect from rusting.
