Worked as intended. Easy to use and liked that the paper portion was perforated at the bottom making it easier and smoother to fold over onto the books. Quality feels good and durable. Would purchase again in the future.

I received this today and I am very happy with the product! I ordered this so I could protect the dust covers for my cookbooks. I hate a ratty looking book cover so I had removed them, but then it was hard to tell which cookbook I wanted to grab. After ordering a nifty book holder for the kitchen I decided I needed to make my cookbooks look nice so I started searching for "that stuff like libraries cover books with". I had no clue what to search, but when I found it here and n Amazon, the was very happy! I ordered the 12" roll because I knew it would work for all my books. It was very easy to use although, after reading the instructions, I kind of went my own way. It tells you to put the clear side down and to insert the dust jacket between the clear side and the paper. For me, it was easier to do it with the clear side up. Now all three of my Wheat Belly cookbooks are protected and looking good! I still have plenty of the roll left to cover more books as the need arises.

I only give 3 stars because 1st, it doesn’t come with tape to keep it on the book jacket. I personally feel it needs tape because when you fold it to put in the book the plastic doesn’t stay very well. You have hold it in place to fold it over the book. 2nd, 5 yards only covered 9 books. The books are 9.25 in tall or smaller. So it’s not a lot and I have (2) 5 shelf bookshelves full of books. 2 rolls was not enough to protect the hardcover books I have. I have kids that read the books I have and they aren’t very kind when reading the books. So I wanted to try and protect the jackets better. 3rd, there are only so many perforated lines to take off the extra paper. Now I know there are different sizes but from a money stand point, buying the smaller covers just isn’t worth buying when you have different sized books. Over all it was pretty easy to use and figure out once I started using tape to hold the cover over the jacket.

The Brodart Just-a-Fold dust jacket (dj) protector is very effective at keeping a new dj looking good and making an old dj look better than seemed possible. I've been using them for five years on djs in a wide range of sizes and conditions and have never been disappointed. Some tips. If the dj is already torn or has curled edges, I mend it from the inside with thin archival tape Lineco Archival Document Repair Tape 1 Inch By 35 Feet before using the Just-A-Fold--this simplifies fitting the protector and looks better. When fitting the protector to the dj, be aware that static electricity may make the process more difficult, but persistence pays. When determining the required length of rolled (as opposed to pre-cut) Just-a-Fold, I try to make the protector about 1/16 or 1/8 inch longer than the dj at both ends as an extra bit of protection. I use a smooth, polished bone folder to set the crease at the bottom of the protector. After fitting is complete, I use a small piece of archival tape to fasten together the folded polyester film and the paper of the Just-a-Fold--this stabilizes the folded strip at the bottom. Some djs don't stay in their books during use because the folded ends aren't long enough, but adding about an inch or an inch-and-a-half of extra length at each end of the protector cures this problem.

I have some vintage books I wanted to preserve and even in some cases keep from getting worse. The dust jackets were getting damaged. This material was easy to use and the result is nice. I have never done this before or used any type of covers for books before. Happy with the seller as well. Material arrived nicely boxed and with instructions. Will order more when I need some.
