So far so good--try this one first!
Bought this extruder for my 2020 model CR-10 after I had inconsistent extrusion and skipping on my prints from my aluminum single gear extruder and tried everything else I could think of to fix it. A few things off the top of my head: -As other reviews have pointed out, this version of the low-cost dual gear design includes washers to prevent the gears from grinding off the aluminum as they turn--this is the only one I've seen on Amazon that acknowledges that design flaw! -An issue that I HAVEN'T seen in reviews (probably because it's such an obscure upgrade) is that, while it IS compatible with the CR-10, it's not perfectly compatible with the PrinterMods direct drive upgrade right out of the box. This extruder is substantially thicker than the stock Creality one the PrinterMods upgrade is designed for, so the M3x25 screws included with that upgrade are /just/ too short to mount the motor + extruder to the printhead, and the screws you get with this package DEFINITELY aren't long enough to do the job. I'll update this review later to see how it works in action, but PrinterMods users--you WILL need to replace the two M3x25 screws you used to mount the motor to the printhead with M3x35, and I recommend adding a matching nut to ensure you can screw it all the way in. (It's overkill, but I ordered the iexcell M3 screw variety pack with the 50 nuts and five different lengths of screws--it's only ~$9 on Amazon though, so unless you found a cheaper M3x35 nut and bolt pack, that's what I can personally recommend.) -Definitely recalibrate your e-steps after you install this--in my case the included suggestion of 139 steps/mm was spot on, but it doesn't hurt to use this as a starting point for your calibration, since either way you're going to need to bump up your e-steps from stock for this kind of extruder. -If you're confused on how to install this, check out CHEP's video specifically about installing them. The included instructions are pretty vague if you haven't done extruder upgrades before, but I think that video is super easy to follow for beginners. Like I said, so far so good--after calibrating e-steps this extruder consistently extrudes the amount of filament you tell it to, has a firm grip on the filament without grinding it down or biting into it too deeply (at least with PLA--I'll see about PETG and other filaments one of these days), and shows no sign of slippage. Again, since I need to get longer screws to mount it on my particular setup, I'll update this review later to see how it works extruding hot filament proper, but if you need a solid dual gear extruder and don't want to break the bank, get THIS one! UPDATE 9/14/22: So I managed to finally get this thing mounted and tested extruding hot filament and it works beautifully! I won't knock off a star for this, but I WILL note that, for my extruder, I had to chamfer the second hole that fed the filament through the PTFE tubing a bunch since the gears didn't perfectly line up with that hole, making it so not only did I have difficulty feeding filament through, but it shaved off the filament as the extruder worked. This extruder is solid in every other aspect but this one, and while I would still certainly recommend it over other dual gear models on Amazon, I would advise having a needle file on hand just in case your hole(s) are misaligned/undersized. You get what you pay for, as they say. UPDATE: 9/23/22: After some fairly light but solid use, I can safely say that this is very likely your best budget dual gear option on Amazon right now. My only gripe that still remains is that it's finicky to actually get the filament through the gears AND to the hotend, but I imagine that's just because of my own weird setup, and I've heard that people have issues feeding filament through their stock/single-extruder setups anyways. If you're like me and you're patient (and desperate) enough to stick with it once you buy it, I still recommend getting a needle file just in case you need to widen the feed hole--after adding extra clearance it works just fine and no longer shaves away the filament.

low torque is useful!!!
This ungeared (i.e. 1:1 stepper torque) dual extruder yields significantly lower feed pressure compared to the stock extruder from my Anycubic i3 Mega with 3:1 gear reduction, and that may be a good thing. My old stock extruder left a stronger bite in the filament when flowing normally, and severely chewed into the filament during hotend stalls and jams. In contrast, this dual gear extruder leaves a gentler (2-sided) bite during normal flow, and when the hotend slows down, the stepper motor cogs before the filament slips and chaffs. The end result is there's no noticeable chew in the filament after jams. Great! I don't need to trim filament anymore after jams. The downside is that I'm not certain that this extruder generates enough torque to overcome slight fluctuations in resistance. When I see thin flow, I can augment feed pressure by manually pushing filament into the extruder, and this often clears onset clogs and restores flow. This tells me that a little bit more torque would help steady flow. If your hotend is healthy then this extruder may work well for you. I'm switching to a dual gear extruder with 3:1 reductions (while also upgrading the hotend to fix other problems). If the geared extruder chews filament then I may switch back to this one. The recommended esteps value 139 steps/mm worked perfectly. I chamfered the filament inlet hole in the main block per other commenter's recommendation to avoid chaffing. Filament loads easily and naturally in this extruder compared to my other one (a cheap BMG dual extruder clone). The clutch lever on this one is awkward to grip. Assembly took a little bit of figuring (instructions are incomplete), but it didn't take long. Feels solid and reliable overall.

A very necessary upgrade!
Recently got an Ender 3 V2 neo and was really struggling getting the printer going and having good prints. Adhesion and extrusion problems galore. The extruder on that printer is all metal, which is great, but the design is terrible. I could easily pull the filament out without pushing in the gripper arm, even after adjusting the spring tension. So it had to go. I'm not sure if this is the best replacement, but it works and it's great for the price. I can actually print now! Installation wasn't too tricky, but it is a bit involved. Especially getting the spring on and tensioned correctly. Sometimes the gears on this don't grip right away but it does eventually click and works really well. There is a lot of filament dust that it creates so it wears down the filament more than the default extruder. Not sure if that's an issue but so far so good. When it's time to replace this, I will probably go higher end as it's just too important a part to skimp on. But at least compared to the original part, this is an exceptional and needed upgrade.

Easy Upgrade
The construction of this extruder is extremely nice and an excellent upgrade to the stock one. It provides consistent filament feeding and looks awesome while doing it. I love the all metal construction with the red anodization. It really does look sharp and installs in minutes. I installed this on my Voxelab Aquila X2 and it fitted near perfectly. The filament detection sensor is a little lower than the intake for the extruder, but it certainly still works and could be optimized with raising the sensor with some larger spacers and screws. For the price, this is a no brainer upgrade and pairs very nicely with the Creality spring upgrade kit with the red aluminum knobs. If you are considering this kit at all, just buy it, you'll be glad you did!

I purchased this to replace the broken plastic extruder on my CR-10 and was essentially just looking to have the machine back in action again. This arrived complete with a number of accessory parts including a much stronger bracket than that which was originally supplied. The pieces went together well and were an exact fit for the machine. I hadn't particularly purchased this as an upgrade but the supplied parts - especially the sharper 'cog' have really made the machine feel like new. This has given my prints a real quality boost which was unexpected and I'd certainly underestimated the difference that this would make. This is a really good kit at a very good price. Buy one.

L'ho comprato per aggiornare il mio clone di prusa. Stó montando un estrusore tipo bowden con hotend V6; usato con il motore originale, facilissimo da montare, le istruzioni sono delle foto passo passo... quindi impossibile sbagliare. È tutto in alluminio, robusto e veramente ben lavorato e rifinito. Per il prezzo pagato e la velocità con cui l'ho ricevuto credo di aver pagato il giusto. Consigliatissimo come ricambio o come ho fatto io per upgrade. Comprato dal venditore Redrex3d. Spero di essere stato utile.
