Toyota Genuine Parts - TRD Pro Grill 2016-2017 Tacoma (PT228-35170)

I had a knockoff Toyota legacy grill on my TRD OR for a few years.. And although it did a decent job of looking good(but still wasn't perfect), it showed all the signs of being fake, right away. The color bleed from sunlight, clips that crack on install, and the screws that hold the toyota lettering in the middle backing out or cracking the plastic that it screws into. Unlike the fake grill, this one right from the get go, you know it's quality. It physically feels more robust. The black and gray colors are deeper and although I can't say for certain yet, I believe they will hold the color. Install was super easy. Especially since the fake grill, I was able to pull straight off the truck with my bare hands because so many of the clips had broken. Another major note: Since I installed the new grill(and sensor garnish), I haven't had a single instance of my front collision sensor disabling itself(this controls things like cruse control, and collision avoidance!)! As were with the previous grill and garnish(this part was OEM) would often disable itself. I can't speak to the exact cause, but it often happened to sun up or sun down while driving "into" the sun. Overall quality of the new grill and getting from this listing is absolutely top notch. I'll report back in another year or so and update then as well.

Legit grilled, perfect fit on the tacoma

I’m not 100% positive but I do believe this grille is Toyota OEM. Supposedly one of the indicators of a knock-off is the lettering. The knock-offs have letters which are screwed on separately, but these were permanently fixed to the grille. Whether it’s OEM or a knock-off I wouldn’t really be able to take the difference, it looks awesome. It was shipped nicely and was completely intact, no scratches. All was good and the installation was seamless. One thing I would have liked to know beforehand is the grille doesn’t really allow you to place the aftermarket LEDs anywhere you would like. I didn’t realize the spacing on the bottom half of the grille is different from the top half, so I was only able to place them in the same way that everyone else does. I now realize why everyone lays them out the same way. These LEDs I ordered separately on Amazon as well just FYI.

Exactly what I ordered. OME Toyota. Easy installation. Replaced stock grill that black over chrome was peeling. One thing the garnish being needed isn’t mentioned on this OME grill. Had to order it the next day.

I have an all black 2019 Tacoma Off-Road. The shiny stock grill with the chrome ring around it wasn't what I wanted in terms of looks. This grill finished the front look nicely. Pros: -The look. -The fit is perfect. -It's all Toyota so I don't have to worry about voiding the warranty. Cons: -It came with the grill filler for applications with no TSS (the sensor that tells if there are cars in front of you) already attached with spring steel fasteners. I had to destroy them to remove it and then go buy the same new fasteners for the TSS garnish (Toyota part # 53141-35060) that you need to buy if you are going to use your TSS module. It would have been better if it was not attached to begin with. -The grill is spendy compared to after market grills but I'll likely get ~100 for my old grill on resale so that softens the cost. -The TSS sensor sits lower on this grill than on the stock grill. I have a brush guard in the front and the top bar of the guard is close to blocking the signal but so far, so good. Be sure to check. Other Thoughts: I reused the TSS mounting nut-like fasteners from my OEM grill to finish the job. If you don't have the original grill, you will need to buy them. You'll need a couple zip ties to secure the TSS cable. Also, there are a couple good installation videos on YouTube. Most the time, you are screwing into plastic. Be gentle.

Really impressed and thrilled with this grille. It has made my TRD Sport look much more agressive. With my truck being all black, it looks really sharp. But make no mistakes, this grille will complement the black accents of any Tacoma. So don't hesitate to make the swap as it really will set your Tacoma apart from the pack. It's also an easy, do-it-yourself install. Dismounting the grille frame is extremely easy, you just have to remove four screws and it pops right out. The hardest part of the ordeal is removing the stock insert and bezel. The trick is identifying which clips belong to the bezel or the frame. You want to take the bezel out first. Remove the eight screws on the bezel first. Then on each clip you'll see a fastener. Push those in just enough so you can push the clip through the hole. The Pro Grille pops into the frame easily. Just push the corners in until you hear it click. The Pro Grille does not require any screws. Mounting the entire grille back to the truck is as easy as it is taking it off. All-in-all, a pretty painless process that results in a beautiful finish for your truck.
